Worsted Weight Cotton

Color A: Orange

Color B: Green

Crochet hook size I/5.5 mm

Tapestry needle

ABBREVIATIONS:

Beg = beginning

Ch/s = chain/s

Dc = double crochet

Hdc = half double crochet

Hk = hook

Lp/s = loop/s

Rem = remaining

Rep = repeat

RS = Right Side

Sc = single crochet

Sk = skip

Sl St = slip stitch

St/s = stitch/es

Tr = triple crochet

Yo = yarn over

SPECIAL STITCHES:

Sc2tog = Work 1 sc into each of next 2 sts leaving the last lp of each st on hk, yo and pull through all 3 lps.

Sc3tog = Work 1 sc into each of next 3 sts leaving the last lp of each st on hk, yo and pull through all 4 lps.

Tr2tog = Work 1 tr into each of next 2 sts leaving the last lp of each st on hk, yo and pull through all 3 lps.

Tr3tog = Work 1 tr into each of next 3 sts leaving the last lp of each st on hk, yo and pull through all 4 lps.

INSTRUCTIONS

Cup: Begins at top of cup.

Row 1: With A ch 26, working in back bumps of chs, sc in 2ndch from hk and in each ch to end, ch 1, turn. (25 sc)

Row 2: (RS) Sc in first st and in each st to end, ch 1, turn. (25 sc)

Row 3 – 10: Rep Row 2.

Row 11: Sc into first st, [hdc in next st, dc in next st, 3 tr in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st] rep to end joining Color B in last st, ch 1, turn.

Row 12: Sk first st, sc in next st (counts as sc2tog), [sc in next 2 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, sc3tog] to end omitting last sc3tog, sc2tog in last 2 sts, ch 1, turn.

Row 13: Rep Row 12. Finish off Color B, join Color A in last st, ch 3, turn.

Row 14: Sk first st, 1 tr into next st (counts as tr2tog), [dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, tr3tog] to end omitting last tr3tog, tr2tog in last 2 sts, ch 1, turn.

Row 15 – 26: Sc in first st, sc in next and each st to end, ch 1, turn. (25 sc)

Row 27: Sk first st, sc in next 22 sts, sc2tog in last 2 sts, ch 1, turn. (23 sc)

Row 28: Sc in first st and each st to end, ch 1, turn. (23 sc)

Row 29: Sk first st, sc in next 20 sts, sc2tog in last 2 sts, ch 1, turn. (21 sc)

Row 30: Sc in first st and each st to end, ch 1, turn. (21 sc)

Row 31: Sk first st, sc in next 18 sts, sc2tog in last 2 sts, ch 1, turn. (19 sc)

Row 32: Sc in first st and each st to end, ch 1, turn. (19 sc)

Row 33: Sk first st, sc in next 16 sts, sc2tog in last 2 sts, ch 1, turn. (17 sc)

Row 34: Sc in first st and each st to end, ch 1, turn. (17 sc) Do NOT finish off, continue to Border.

Border:

Work 3 sc in each corner and any number of sc evenly along sides of cup – st count doesn’t matter here, join with sl st to beg sc. Finish off, weave in ends.

Handle:

Row 1: With Color A – leave about an 18” tail and ch 24, working in back bumps of chs, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in next 4 chs, [2 sc in next ch, sc in next 5 chs] to end, ch 1, turn. (26 sc)

Row 2: Sc in first and rem sts. Finish off leaving about an 18” tail. (26 sc)

With RS facing and following photo, sew on Handle using existing ends. The Handle should gently curve, and you can stretch it or damp block it into shape if needed. Weave in all ends, block if desired.
