Ch 78.

Round 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch to last ch; 5 dc in last ch, then working along opposite edge of starting ch, dc in each ch to last ch; 4 dc in last ch; join with a slip st in top of ch-3.

Round 2: Ch 3, * working in back loops only, dc in each dc to 5-dc group at end; working through both loops, dc in next dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc **, dc in next dc; repeat from * around noting that the first ch-3 of Round 1 counts as the 5th dc of the 2nd 5-dc group, end at **; join.

Rounds 3-6: Ch 3, working in back loops only, dc in each dc and work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner ch-2 space around; join. Fasten off at end of Round 6.

Bow-tie Fan

Row 1: With right side facing, join yarn in the ch-2 space at the right-hand side of one short edge; ch 3, dc in each dc across, dc in next ch-2 space; turn – 24 sts.

Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 6, skip 6 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in top of ch-3; turn.

Rows 3 and 5: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each dc to ch-2 space, ch 2, dc in next 4 dc, ch 6, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, dc in each dc across and in top of ch-3; turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, skip first dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in each dc to ch-2 space, ch 2, dc in next 4 dc, ch 6, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, dc in each dc to last 2 sts; 2 dc in next dc, dc in top of ch-3; turn.

Row 6: Ch 3, skip first dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in each dc to ch-2 space, ch 2, dc in next 4 dc, ch 4, insert hook from front to back under the 4 ch-6 chains and work sc to secure those chains and form a bow, ch 4, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, dc in each dc to last 2 sts; 2 dc in next dc, dc in top of ch-3; turn.

Rows 7 and 9: Repeat Row 3.

Rows 8 and 10: Repeat Row 4.

Row 11: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each dc to ch-2 space, ch 2, dc in next 4 dc, ch 4, insert hook from front to back under the 4 ch-6 chains and work sc to secure those chains and form a bow, ch 4, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, dc in each dc across and in top of ch-3; turn.

Rows 12 and 14: Repeat Row 4.

Rows 13 and 15: Repeat Row 3.

Row 16: Repeat Row 6.

Rows 17-21: Repeat Rows 7-11. Fasten off.

Repeat Bow-tie Fan at opposite short edge.

Edging

With right side facing, join yarn to first dc immediately after ch-2 space on left side of fan; ch 2, work 1 row Reverse sc evenly to corner, then along side edge and around to opposite ch-2 space. Fasten off.

Repeat Edging on other side of scarf.
