  • Red Heart Super Saver medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (7 oz/ 364 yds/198g per skein);(4):

  • 3/4 oz each #505 Aruba sea and #3620 glowworm
  • 1/2 oz each #312 black and #706 perfect pink
  • 1/4 oz each #324 bright yellow, #356 amethyst, #373 petal pink, #579 pale plum, #668 honeydew and #3251 flame
  • 3 yds #3862 jade
  • 1 yd #718 shocking pink
  • Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker
  • Polyester stuffing

GAUGE
4 sc = 1 inch; 4 rows = 1 inch

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Do not join rounds unless otherwise stated. Use stitch marker to mark beginning of rounds and move up as each round is completed.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Flower is optional for a female Pig (see photo).

SPECIAL STITCH

Single crochet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

HEAD

Rnd 1: Beg at front of Head, with lemon, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, place marker (see Pattern Notes). (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: [Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: [Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] around. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts] around. (30 sc)

Rnd 6: [Sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st] around. (36 sc)

Rnd 7: Sc in each st around.

Rnd 8: [Sc in each of next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st] around. (42 sc)

Rnds 9-18: Rep rnd 7.

Rnd 19: [Sc in each of next 4 sts, sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sts] around. (35 sc)

Stuff Head here and as rem rnds are worked.

Rnd 22: [Sc in each of next 2 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts] around. (18 sc)

Rnd 24: [Sc dec in next 2 sts] around, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg sc. Leaving a long tail, fasten off.

Weave tail end through last rnd and pull tightly to close. (6 sc)

SNOUT

Rnd 1: With petal pink, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, place marker. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: [Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] around. (15 sc)

Rnd 4: Sc in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of each st around.

Rnd 5: Sc in each st around, join in beg sc. Leaving 14-inch tail, fasten off.

Stuff Snout and sew over rnds 1-4 of Head.

With shocking pink, embroider satin stitch (see illustration) nostrils on Snout.

EAR Make 2.

Row 1 (RS): With petal pink, ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (7 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in each of next 3 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (5 sc)

Row 4: Rep row 2.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in next st, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (3 sc)

Row 6: Rep row 2.

Row 7: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in next st, turn. (2 sc)

Row 8: Ch 1, sc dec in 2 sts. Fasten off. (1 sc)

Edging

With RS facing and perfect pink, sc join (see Special Stitch) in end of row 1, *working in ends of rows, sc in each row* up first side, (sc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc) in st of row 8, rep between * down 2nd side. Leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off. Sew Ears to Head.

EYE Make 2.

With black, embroider Eyes above Snout using satin stitch.

BODY

Rnds 1-6: With glowworm, rep rnds 1-6 of Head. (36 sc)

Rnd 7: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts] around. (42 sc)

Rnd 8: Sc in each st around.

Rnd 9: [Sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st] around. (48 sc)

Rnds 10 & 11: Sc in each st around, at end of rnd 11, join in beg sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 12: Sc join perfect pink in any st, sc in each st around.

Rnds 13-19: Sc in each st around. At end of rnd 19, join in beg sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 20: With Aruba sea, rep rnd 12.

Rnds 21-25: Sc in each st around.

Stuff Body here and as rem rnds are worked.

Rnd 26: [Sc in each of next 6 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts] around. (42 sc)

Rnd 27: [Sc in each of next 5 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts] around. (36 sc)

Rnd 28: [Sc in each of next 4 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts] around. (30 sc)

Rnd 29: [Sc in each of next 3 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts] around. (24 sc)

Sew Head to Body

FRONT LEG Make 2.

Rnd 1: Beg at bottom, with amethyst, ch 2, 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (7 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (14 sc)

Rnd 3: [Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] around, join in beg sc. Fasten off. (21 sc)

Rnd 4: Working in back lps, sc join plum in any st, sc in each st around.

Rnds 5-7: Sc in each st around, at end of rnd 7, join in beg sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 8: Sc join flame in any st, sc in each st around.

Rnds 9 & 10: Sc in each st around, at end of rnd 10, join in beg sc. Leaving a 14-inch tail, fasten off.

BACK LEG Make 2.

Rnds 1-3: With jade, rep rnds 1-3 of Front Leg.

Rnds 4-7: With honey-dew, rep rnds 4-7 of Front Leg.

Rnds 8-10: With yellow, rep rnds 8-10 of Front Leg.

Stuff Front and Back Legs and sew to Body.

TAIL

With perfect pink, ch 16, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in each ch across to last ch, (2 sc, sl st) in last ch. Fasten off. Sew to back of Body.

COLLAR

With amethyst, ch 33 or as many chs as needed to fit around neck, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Fasten off. Place around neck and sew ends tog.

Bow Tie

Row 1: With amethyst, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in last ch, turn. (2 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), (dc, 2 tr) in first sc, (2 tr, dc, ch 3) in next st, sl st in end of each row, ch 1, working on opposite side of foundation ch, (sl st, ch 3, dc, 2 tr) in first ch, ch 3, (2 tr, dc, ch 3, sl st) in next ch. Fasten off.

Tack Bow to front of Collar.

Flower

Rnd 1: With plum, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in beg sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: Join amethyst in any st, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, sl st) in same st, (sl st, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, sl st) in each st around. Fasten off.

Tack behind one Ear.
