SWEATER
With smaller hook, ch 98 (114, 130, 146).
Work rows 1 -8 of patt, then rep rows 3-8 ten times. Fasten off.
Shape armholes
Skipping first 1 (2, 2, 3) patt reps, join yarn to 4th sc of first (second, second, third) 5-sc group. Ch 1 and work as for row 3, ending in second sc of last (second, second, third) 5-sc group from end. Work even in patt for 23 (26, 26, 29) more rows, ending with a row 8 (5, 5, 8). Fasten off.
Front (make 2)
Note: Neck and armhole shaping occur at the same time. Read instructions carefully.
With smaller hook, ch 50 (58, 66, 74).
Work rows 1-8 of patt, then rep rows 3-8 nine times, then rep rows 3-6 once more.
Beg neck shaping as described in stitch patterns, removing a total of 2 reps over next 10 rows. At the same time, fasten off after row 68 and shape armhole same as back, then fasten off once more.
Sleeves
With smaller hook, ch 98 (106, 106, 122).
Work rows 1-8 of patt, then rep rows 3-8 six times. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements. With larger hook, form belt loop by joining yarn to back at side edge, approx 8" below armhole, ch 20, then join to same place with sl st. Rep belt loop on other side. Set in sleeves, sew side and sleeve seams.
Belt
With smaller hook, ch 320 (325, 330, 330). Sc 1 in 2nd ch from hook and each sc across. Work 9 more rows in sc. Fasten off.
Front trim
With larger hook and RS facing, join yarn at bottom edge of right front, ch 1 and work a row of sc evenly along front edge. At neck shaping areas, work 1 or 2 sc in point of each «step» then ch 2 or ch 3 to reach the next point, then cont working in sc.
Next row: Ch 1, sc evenly across. Work 9 more rows in sc. Fasten off.
