Middle

Row 1: Chain 6, dc in 4th chain from hook. Dc in last two chains. (4 dc. First 3 chains counts as 1 dc.)

Row 2: Chain 3. *Dc in first dc, chain 1.* Repeat from *to* until end of row.

Row 3: Chain 3. *Dc in chain 1 space, chain 1.* Repeat from *to* until end of row.

Repeat Rows 2-3 until the scarf is the desired length. Sample scarf is 52 inches long.

Fasten off.

Edge

Turn scarf horizontal. Working down long side of scarf, work in chain 3 space

Marianne Stitch
3 dc in chain 3 space, Chain 3, sc in third dc (picot made), 2 dc in chain space, chain 10, slst in first dc (an arch is formed), chain 3, sc in chain 10 space, chain 3, put hook through picot and under chain 10 space then sc (this connects the picot and chain 10 together), chain 3, sc in sc (picot made), chain 3, slst in 10 chain space, chain 3 slst in fifth dc, slst in 3 chain space.

Marianne Stitch

One Marianne stitch in each chain 3 space of long side of scarf. At the corner, turn place one Marianne Stitch along short edge, turn, repeat for other two sides.
