Materials Needed:

1 skein of dark purple worsted weight yarn (color A)

1 skein of gray worsted weight yarn (color B)

Gauge:

4 in. = 14 dc

4 in. = 8 rows of dc

Special stitches:

Sc3tog: (insert hook in next st, yo and draw up a loop) 3 times (4 loops on hook), yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

Dc2tog: yo and draw up a loop in the next st (3 loops on hook), yo and draw through the first 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook), yo and draw up a loop in the next st (4 loops on hook), yo and draw through the first 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook), yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Dc3tog: yo and draw up a loop in the next st (3 loops on hook), yo and draw through the first 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook), yo and draw up a loop in the next st (4 loops on hook), yo and draw through the first 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook), yo and draw up a loop in the next st (5 loops on hook), yo and draw through the first 2 loops on hook (4 loops on hook), yo over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.


*Ch 1 at the end of the row does not count as a stitch.

Instructions:

Ch 297 (you can make this scarf as long as you want, you just need to make sure the base chain is in multiples of 8, plus 9)

*Ch 3 at the beginning of row 1 counts as 1 dc.

Row 1: using color A, 1 dc in the 4th ch from hook and in the next ch, 3 dc in the next ch, *1 dc in each of the next 2 chs, dc3tog, 1 dc in each of the next 2 chs, 3 dc in the next ch, repeat from * to the last 3 chs, 1 dc in each of the last 3 chs, change to color B, ch 1, turn.

Row 2: working blo and using color B, sc dec over the first 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, 3 sc in the next st, *1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc3tog, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, 3 sc in the next st, repeat from * to the last 4 sts, 1 sc in the next 2 sts, sc dec over the last 2 sts, change to color A, ch 1, turn.

Row 3: working blo and using color A, dc2tog over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 3 dc in the next st, *1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, dc3tog, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 3 dc in the next st, repeat from * to the last 4 stss, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, dc2tog over the last 2 sts, change to color B, ch 1, turn.

Row 4: repeat row 2

Row 5: repeat row 3

Row 6: repeat row 2

Row 7: repeat row 3. At the end of row 7, finish off, weave in ends.
