Materials

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-

  • 300 grams of Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Prints (colour 1)
  • 150 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK yarn in (colour 2)
  • 6.50mm Crochet Hook

TENSION – 4tr & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in multiples of 2 + 3

With colour 1 make 103ch loosely, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (100tr + 3ch)

Row 2 – 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Fasten off. Turn.

Row 3 – Join in colour 2, make 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, (1dc, 1tr) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3ch to turn with, miss tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (50 groups)

Rows 4 to 6 – 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, (1dc, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last tr and dc, miss tr, 1dc into dc. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in colour 1.

Rows 7 & 8 – make 3ch, 1tr into each st to end. Fasten off. Turn.

Rpt Rows 3 to 8 until 80 rows have been worked in all or your work measures approx 31.5 inches from beginning. Turn.

Border – Continue with colour 1 make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each tr to end, 3dc into top of 3ch, work 107dc evenly into row ends down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting ch edge, 3dc into corner, work 107 dc evenly into row ends up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, working 3dc into corners, ss to last dc on the end of row.

Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
