  • Bernat Blanket in Orange Leaf (this is a #6 super bulky yarn; 10.5 oz / 300 g, 220 yds / 201 m per ball)
  • Approx. 880 yds (4 balls)
  • 9mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

GAUGE:

4″ x 4″ = 8 hdc x 4 rows (3 hdc rows + 1 bead st row)

MEASUREMENTS:

Approx. 41″ (L) x 51″ (W)

SPECIAL STITCH:

Bead Stitch: Dc in the designated st, *yo, insert hook behind the dc post from right to left, yo, pull up a loop*, repeat * to * 1 more time (5 loops on hook), yo, pull through 4 loops (2 loops on hook), yo, pull through rem 2 loops.

NOTES:

Meeting gauge is not essential for this pattern. However, I suggest that you make a swatch to see how you like the drape of the crocheted fabric.

Crochet the beginning chain loosely or go up a hook size for the chain

Ch 2 at the beginning of the hdc rows DOES NOT count as a stitch.

Ch 3 at the beginning of the bead stitch rows DOES count as a stitch.

Adjust the size of this blanket by chaining any multiple of 3 + 2 and by adding or subtracting rows.

Adding tassels is optional.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Ch 78 + 2 (or any multiple of 3 + 2)

Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across (79), ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), turn.

Row 2: Hdc in the first st and in each st across (79), ch 2, turn.

Row 3: Hdc in the first st and in each st acroos (79), ch 3 (counts as a stitch), turn.

Row 4: *Bead st in next st, sk 1, dc in next st*, repeat * to * until end of row (27 dc, 26 bead st), ch 2, turn.

Rows 5-6: Repeat Row 2.

Row 7: Repeat Row3.

Row 8: Repeat Row 4.

Rows 9-55: Repeat rows 5-8 (3 rows of hdc + 1 row of bead st), ending with 3 rows of hdc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Optional: Attached one 4″ tassel on each end of the blanket.
