The intricate details of the flower make it not just a practical accessory for keeping your place in a book, but also a beautiful work of art. Imagine turning the pages of your favorite novel and catching a glimpse of the delicate petals peeking out from the edge. It not only marks where you left off but also serves as a sweet reminder of the joy of creating something with your own hands. So grab your yarn and hook, and let's add a touch of whimsy to your reading routine!
Materials:
- Your choice of yarn
- A crochet hook suitable for your selected yarn
- Measuring tape
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Instructions:
Foundation Chain: Begin by chaining as many stitches as needed to reach a length of 30 cm (or adjust for your desired bookmark length).
Row 1: Half double crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across.
Row 2: Chain 2 (doesn’t count as your first hdc), turn your work, and half double crochet in each stitch across.
Row 3: Repeat Row 2.
Flower Creation:
After completing Row 3, slip stitch into the side of that row.
Switch to a smaller hook.
Chain 10.
To form the petals, chain 6 and slip stitch into the 10th chain from the hook. Repeat this step 5 times, creating 5 petals in total.
Finishing: Slip stitch back along the initial chain.
Switch back to the larger hook, make a slip stitch into the side of the first row, and finish off.
Weave in any loose ends.
