Purse Base

Foundation Chain

Make a slip knot and chain 25 loosely (approx. 6.5 inches / 17 cm).

Round 1

Single crochet in the back bump of each chain (start from 2nd chain).

Place 4 single crochets in the last stitch.

Continue on the opposite side, single crocheting in each stitch.

Round 2

At the end, add 3 single crochets in the first stitch (creating 4 total at each end).

Use a stitch marker after the corner.

Single crochet along to the other side.

Place 2 single crochets in each of the next 4 stitches (rounding the corner).

Continue single crocheting to the next corner and repeat the increase.

Body

Remove the marker and crochet in the back loops only.

Continue single crocheting in the back loop around to build the body.

Stop when the purse measures approx. 6x6 inches (15 cm x 15 cm).

Flap

Mark the back center where the flap begins.

Chain 1 and turn.

Single crochet to the marked stitch, then remove the marker and finish the row.

Chain 1, turn, and single crochet across.

Decreasing Rows

Chain 1, turn, skip first stitch (decrease), then single crochet across.

Repeat this decrease at the start of each row until you reach your desired flap length.

Buttonhole

Find the flap center.

Chain 1, turn, skip first stitch, single crochet to 1 stitch before center.

Chain 4 (adjust for button size), skip 3 stitches, single crochet to the end.

Chain 1, turn, skip first stitch, and single crochet to chain space.

Place 4 single crochets in the chain space, then finish the row.

Edging

Chain 1, turn, skip first stitch, and single crochet to the end.

Crochet down the edge, placing one stitch per row.

Continue around the front and up the other side of the flap.

Join at the start with an invisible stitch.

Weave in all ends.

Strap

Leave a long tail, create slip knot, and chain 120–150 (35–45 inches).

Starting in 2nd stitch from hook, place 2 single crochets.

Single crochet across to end.

Place 4 single crochets in the final stitch.

Work back along the chain with single crochets.

At end, place 2 single crochets in the last stitch.

Slip stitch to join.

Chain 1, then:

Single crochet

2 single crochets in next (corner)

Single crochet to end

Repeat 2 single crochets in final stitch and 1 in the next.

Leave long tail and cut yarn.

Close with a yarn needle.

Attach strap 4–5 stitches from flap edges on each side.

Daisy Embellishment

Create a magic ring.

Place 11 single crochets inside the ring.

Pull tight, join with invisible stitch (12 total).
