Instructions:
To make the front panel:
Row 1:
With Hoboken Honey, chain 37. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn.
Rows 2 – 43:
Follow the graph below. Each square on the graph represents 1 sc. Work the odd rows by reading the graph from right-to-left, the even rows by reading the graph from left-to-right, and so forth. Change colors as indicated by the graph. Any color not in use will be dropped behind the work and picked back up when needed.
The back side of this panel will look quite messy, but it does not matter because it will not be seen once the pillow is assembled. You may wish to cut down on the amount of yarn being carried behind the work by separating 1 skein of the Hoboken Honey into three (3) balls and using one (1) ball for the right side of the window, one (1) ball for the middle part of the window, and one (1) ball for the left side of the window. When you have completed the pattern on the graph, fasten off and weave in all ends.
Note: On the graph, I have used gray squares for the cat, however, I crocheted the cat in Oakland Black. I did not use black to color in the graph squares because it made the graph difficult to view.
To add the star detail, thread a tapestry needle with a small length of New York White and use the graph as a guide to place a large cross stitch bisected by a long stitch down the middle.
To make the back panel:
Row 1:
With Hoboken Honey, ch 37. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn.
Rows 2-10:
Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Fasten off Hoboken Honey and change to New York White.
Rows 11-14:
Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Fasten off New York White and change to Fayetteville Frost.
Rows 15-29:
Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Fasten off Fayetteville Frost and change to New York White.
Rows 30-33:
Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Fasten off New York White and change to Hoboken Honey.
Rows 34-43:
Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
To attach the front and back panels:
With right sides facing out, line up the front and back panels. Attach Hoboken Honey to any corner and work slip stitches through both layers, around three of the edges. Insert pillow form. Continue slip stitching until you have worked around the entire perimeter of the pillow, sl st to beginning and fasten off. (I used an exaggerated sl st, meaning that I elongated my slip stitches so that each sl st covers 2 sts. However, a regular sl st will work just fine). Weave in ends.
