Supplies:
worsted weight yarn
5mm crochet hook
scissors
yarn needle
pipe cleaner
How To Make It:
Round #1
1. Chain 10. Insert hook into the last chain from the hook, and join with a slip stitch to make a loop.
2. Chain 3. This counts as your first double crochet. Make 2 more double crochets into the loop. This is a cluster.
3. Chain 3. Make another cluster of 3 double crochets. Chain 3.
4. Continue making clusters of 3 double crochets, followed by a chain 3, until you have made 24 double crochets. You will end with a chain 3.
5. Join to the top of the first double crochet you made at the beginning of the round with a slip stitch. Chain 1, cut your yarn, and pull it through to secure the stitch.
Round #2
1. Change colors here. Join your new color by making a standing single crochet in any of the chain 3 spaces from the previous round.
2. Chain 3. This chain counts as your first double crochet. Make 2 more double crochets in the same space.
3. Chain 3, and make another cluster of 3 double crochets in the same space. You will now have a cluster, 3 chains, and a cluster, all in the same space.
4. Continue making 2 clusters separated by a chain 3 in each of the chain 3 spaces from the previous round. You will have 8 sets of clusters when you are finished.
5. Join to the top of the first double crochet you made at the beginning with a slip stitch. Chain 1, cut your yarn, and pull it through to secure.
Round #3
1. Change colors here. Join your new color by making a standing single crochet in any of the chain 3 spaces from the previous round.
2. Make 5 double crochets into the same space, chain 3, make another 5 double crochets into the same space, then another single crochet. This completes the first 'petal'.
3. You will see a space between each of the sets of double crochet clusters from the previous round. Make a single crochet in this space.
4. In the next chain 3 space from the previous round, make another petal by making a single crochet, 5 doubles, chain 3, 5 doubles, and a single. Continue in this fashion until you have made the last single crochet between the last 2 petals, and join with a slip stitch to the first standing single crochet you made.
Form the Butterfly Fold your flower in half. Fold a pipe cleaner in half, and wrap it around your butterfly. Twist the top of the pipe cleaner to secure it, and curl the ends.
