MATERIALS:

Size 10 Bedspread Weight Cotton Thread (Two colors: Small amount of mauve and pink)
Size D/3-3.25 mm Hook

Stitches: ch, hdc, dc, sc, scps, sl st.

Difficulty: MEDIUM

HEART
Ch12, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook.
Sc in next ch.
Hdc in next 2chs.
5dc in next ch.
Sl st in next ch.
5dc in next ch.
Hdc in next ch.
sc in last 2chs.

Join with a sl st in the first sc made.

CHAIN: make enough chains to measure 18-20" for a paperback book… more if the intended book is larger.

PUFF END: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook.
ScPs in that sc.
Sl st in same sc.

Fasten off.

TO USE BOOKMARK
Open book and lay heart at the top of the page, just past the book's top edge.
Close book with the long chain inside. Bring chain up across the front of the book and pull the puff end through the center of the heart.

OPTIONAL
* Make the chain any length and lay it in the book without wrapping it around toward the front.
* Add a ribbon instead of the chain to use inside the book.
