Crochet Snuggle Up Baby Blanket

Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn – 17 ounces (I used Red Heart Super Saver – 2 (5 ounce skeins) Grey Heather and 1 (7 ounce skein) Petal Pink)
- I/5.5mm hook
Stitches used in US terms:
- Foundation Double Crochet – fdc
- Front Post Double Crochet – fpdc
- Back Post Double Crochet – bpdc
- Single Crochet – sc
- Chain – ch
- Half Double Crochet – hdc
- Back Loop Only – blo
Note: ch 2 at beginning of row counts as the first stitch.
Begin with Grey Heather
Row 1: work 94 fdc. Turn. (94 stitches)
Row 2: ch 2 (counts as 1st stitch) Skip 1st stitch, *fpdc in next stitch, bpdc in next stitch* Repeat from * to * across to last stitch. dc in last stitch. Turn. (94 stitches)
Rows 3-10: Repeat Row 2 for each row. (94 stitches)
Change to Petal Pink
Rows 11-22: Repeat Row 2 for each row. (94 stitches)
Change to Heather Grey.
Rows 23-32: Repeat Row 2 for each row. (94 stitches)
Change to Petal Pink.
Rows 33-44: Repeat Row 2 for each row. (94 stitches)
Change to Heather Grey.
Rows 45-54: Repeat Row 2 for each row. (94 stitches)
Begin working in rounds continuing with Heather Grey.
Round 1: ch 1. sc evenly around blanket, working 3 sc in each corner.
Rounds 2-3: ch 2. hdc in blo of each stitch around, working 3 hdc in each corner.
Change to Petal Pink.
Rounds 4-5: ch 2. hdc in blo of each stitch around, working 3 hdc in each corner.
Change to Heather Grey.
Round 6: ch 2. hdc in blo of each stitch around, working 3 hdc in each corner.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finished blanket measures about 29 by 30 inches.
You can easily increase the size of this blanket by adding more foundation double crochet stitches in your first row – just keep your number of stitches an even number – and/or by adding more rows to your blanket.
I’ve found that Red Heart Super Saver yarn can feel a bit rough. But if you wash your items on delicate with some fabric softener, dry on delicate for about 10 minutes with a fabric sheet, and then lay it flat to finish drying your project will become much softer.
This pattern would look so great in a solid color. A pretty variegated yarn would also work.
