  • AUNT LYDIA’S Bamboo Ice Size 3: 1 ball each 3702 Pink Ice A, 3631 Green Tea Ice B, 3001 Icicle C,3201 Lemon Ice D(Bamboo Ice Size 3 is DISCONTINUED)
  • Crochet Hook: 3.25mm [US D-3]
  • Tapestry needle

GAUGE: One petal of pink flower = 2¼” long. Gauge is not critical for this project. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Pink flower measures 5” diameter.

White flower measures 4¾” diameter.

Yellow flower measures 4½” diameter.

NOTE: Flowers can be sewn to clothing or accessories. Alternately, pin backs can be sewn to the back of flowers and flowers used as brooches.

PINK FLOWER

Petals (make 7)

With A, ch 9.

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook (lower end of petal), hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch, 5 dc in last ch (petal tip); working across opposite side of foundation ch, dc in next 4 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in last ch, turn—19 sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 5 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, sc in last 3 sts, turn—23 sts.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, dc in next 5 sts, 5 dc in next st, dc in next 5 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, sc in last 3 sts—27 sts. Fasten off.

Leaves

With B, ch 12; taking care not to twist ch, join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1 (Right Side): Ch 1, work 18 sc in ring; join with slip st in first sc—18 sc.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc as join, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times; join with slip st in first sc—24 sc.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same sc as join, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times; join with slip st in first sc—30 sc.

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same sc as join, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times; join with slip st in first sc—36 sc.

Round 5: Ch 1, sc in same sc as join, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times; join with slip st in first sc—42 sc.

Round 6: *Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in next 5 ch (beginning of first leaf), skip next 3 sc of Round 5, slip st in next sc, TURN, skip slip st just made; working across leaf sts, sc in next 7 sts of leaf, 3 sc in next sc (tip of leaf); work 8 sc evenly spaced across opposite side of ch-9, slip st in st at base of ch-9, TURN, skip slip st just made, sc in next sc, hdc in next 2 sc, dc in next 5 sc, 5 dc in next sc, dc in next 5 sc, hdc in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, slip st in last sc of leaf, slip st in next 2 sc of Round 5; repeat from * 2 more times. Flower Center

With A, ch 2.

Round 1 (Right Side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in a continuous spiral—6 sc.

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around—12 sc.

Round 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times—18 sc.

Round 4: *Slip st in next sc, ch 10, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 8 ch, skip next sc of Round 2; repeat from * around. Fasten off.

Finishing

With Right Side facing, arrange petals in a circle, with lower ends of petals together and sides of petals overlapping. With A, sew petals together. Place petals in center of leaves. Place flower center in center of petals. With A, sew leaves and flower center in place. Weave in ends.

WHITE FLOWER

Front Petals

With B, ch 2.

Round 1 (Right Side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in a continuous spiral—6 sc.

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around—12 sc.

Rounds 3 and 4: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around. Fasten off B.

Round 5: With Right Side facing, working in unworked front loops of Round 2, join C with slip st in first st, ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next st, ch 1, [(slip st, ch 1, hdc) in next st, hdc in next st, ch 1] 5 times (6 petals made); working in unworked front loops of Round 3, [(slip st, ch 2, 2 dc) in next st, 2 dc in next st, ch 2] 6 times (6 more petals made); working in front loops only of Round 4, [(slip st, ch 3, 2 tr) in next st, 2 tr in next st, ch 3] 6 times, slip st in next st. Fasten off.

First Layer of Leaves

With Right Side of front petals facing, fold petals forward to work in unworked back loops of Round 4. Join B with sc in first unworked back loop.

Round 1 (Right Side): Working in unworked back loops of Round 4, sc in same st as joining, 2 sc in each of remaining 11 sc—24 sc.

Round 2: [Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times—30 sc.

Round 3: *(Slip st, ch 1, hdc) in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, (2 tr, ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 tr) in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, (hdc, ch 1, slip st) in next sc; repeat from * around—6 leaves.

Back Petals (make 6)

With C, ch 5.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 6 dc in last ch; working across opposite side of foundation ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch, turn—12 sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, 2 sc in next 4 sts, sc in last 4 sts—16 sts. Fasten off.

Second Layer of Leaves

With B, ch 2.

Round 1 (Right Side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in a continuous spiral—6 sc.

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around—12 sc.

Round 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times—18 sc.

Round 4: Work 2 sc in each sc around—36 sc.

Round 5: [Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times—42 sc.

Finishing

With Right Side facing, arrange back petals in a circle, evenly spaced between front petals and first layer of leaves. With C, sew back petals in place. Place assembled flower into second layer of leaves, arranging the leaves of the second layer between leaves of the first layer. With B, sew second layer of leaves to flower. Weave in ends.

First Layer of Petals

With D, ch 5; taking care not to twist ch, join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1 (Right Side): Ch 1, work 12 sc in ring; join with slip st in first sc—12 sc.

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same sc as join, 2 sc in each remaining sc around; join with slip st in first sc—24 sc.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same sc as join, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 11 times—36 sc.

Round 3: Ch 1, hdc in same sc as join, *[hdc in next sc, ch 1, slip st in next sc, ch 1, hdc in next sc] twice, hdc in next sc, ch 1, (slip st, ch 1, hdc) in next sc; repeat from * once more, [hdc in next sc, ch 1, slip st in next sc, ch 1, hdc in next sc] twice, hdc in next sc, ch 1, slip st in same sc as join—9 petals. Fasten off.

Fourth Layer of Petals

Work same as first layer of petals through Round 1—12 sc.

Round 2: *Ch 1, 3 hdc in next sc, slip st in next sc; repeat from * around—6 petals. Fasten off.

Fifth Layer of Petals

With D, ch 2.

Round 1 (Right Side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in a continuous spiral—6 sc.

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around—12 sc.

Round 3: *Slip st in next sc, ch 1, hdc in next sc; repeat from * around—6 petals. Fasten off.

Leaves

With B, ch 12; taking care not to twist ch, join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1 (Right Side): Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), work 23 dc in ring; join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—24 dc.

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same ch as join, dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] 11 times; join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—36 dc.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same ch as join, sc in next 4 dc, 2 sc in next dc, [sc in next 5 dc, 2 sc in next dc] 5 times; join with slip st in first sc—42 sc.

Stack petals from first layer upwards. With D, sew petals together through center. With B, sew leaves to back of flower. Weave in ends.
