Materials Used:

  • Sport weight yarn, size 2 — fine. I used Audine Wools Shine Sport (80% Superwash Merino, 20% Tencel, 320m / 100g) in the colorway Sky by Knitcrate. 136 grams ( 436 meters approx.)of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 4.0 mm (US size G/6) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle.

hdc3(5)puff – 3 or 5 half double crochet closed together

hdc3puff (puff stitch) – 3 half double crochet closed together: Yarn over, insert your hook into indicated stitch (or ch space), yarn over, pull the yarn through the stitch (or ch space). Yarn over and insert your hook into same stitch (or ch space) 2 more times. Now you should have 7 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all 7 loops.
hdc5puff (puff stitch) – 5 half double crochet closed together:Yarn over, insert your hook into indicated stitch (or ch space), yarn over, pull the yarn through the stitch (or ch space). Yarn over and insert your hook into same stitch (or ch space) 4 more times. Now you should have 11 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all 11 loops.

Row 1: 1dc into 4th ch from hook and into each ch st. across. (40 dc sts., including ch3 at the beginning of the row)

Row 2: ch3, turn, skip first dc st., 1dc into each st. across. Last dc goes into top of turning ch3. (40 dc sts)

Row 3: repeat Row 2.

Row 4: ch1, turn, hdc3puff into first dc st., ch5,

(skip next 2 dc sts, hdc5puff into next dc st., ch5)* repeat 12 times across.

Skip next 2 dc sts., hdc3puff into top of turning ch3.

Row 5: ch5, turn, 1sc into next ch5 space,

(ch5, skip next sc st., 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 12 times across.

Ch2, 1dc into hdc3puff st. at the end of the row.

Row 12 — 110: repeat Row (1 – 11) 9 more times. The Row 1 will be worked in the same manner as Row 2 and 3.

Ch1, cut off the yarn leaving a long tail (at least 40cm). The tail will be used to sew the ends together.

Bring the first row and last row together so they line up evenly. Sew first row to last row with a whip stitch or whatever sewing method you prefer.

Weave in the ends.
