RED HEART With Love, 7 oz/198g skeins, each approx 370 yd/338m (acrylic)

1 skein #1701 Hot Pink

CROCHET HOOK

Size G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook or any size to obtain correct gauge

NOTIONS

SPIRAL ABBREVIATION

dtr (double treble crochet) [Yarn over] 3 times, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] 4 times.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Mitts measure approx 7.5"/19cm long, 8.5"/21.5cm circumference at finger edge, and 7.25"/18.5cm circumference at wrist edge. Note Mitts will fit most women and teens.

GAUGE

16 sts and 18 rows = 4"/10cm over single crochet worked in back loops only. Remember to check gauge for best results!

HOW TO MAKE A GAUGE SWATCH

Ch 17.

Row 1 (RS) Working in back bars, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across—16 sc.

Rows 2-18 Ch 1, turn; working in back loops only, sc in each sc across.

Resulting gauge swatch should measure approx 4 x 4"/10 x 10cm. If necessary, adjust hook size to obtain correct gauge.

LEFT MITT

Ch 31.

Row 1 (RS) Working in back bars, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across—30 sc.

Row 2 Ch 2 (does not count as a st), turn; working in back loops only, hdc in first 18 sts, sc in last 12 sts.

Note Beginning of Row 2 is finger end of mitt, end of Row 2 is wrist end of mitt.

Row 3 Ch 1, turn; working in back loops only, sc in first 12 sts, hdc in last 18 sts.

Row 4 Repeat Row 2.

Row 5 Ch 4 (counts as first tr here and throughout), turn; working in both loops, sk first st, tr in next st, [sk next 3 sts, dtr in next st, working behind dtr just made, tr in each of the 3 skipped sts] 7 times.

Row 6 Ch 4, turn; working in both loops, sk first 3 sts, dtr in next st, working in front of last dtr made, tr in each of the last 2 skipped sts, [sk next 3 sts, dtr in next st, working in front of last dtr made, tr in each of the 3 skipped sts] 6 times, tr in next 2 sts.

Row 7 Ch 1, turn; working in both loops, sc in each st across.

Rows 8 and 9 Repeat Rows 2 and 3.

Row 10 Repeat Row 2.

Row 11 (Thumbhole row) Ch 1, turn; working in back loops only, sc in first 12 sts, hdc in next 4 sts, ch 5, sk next 5 sts (for thumbhole), hdc in last 9 sts—30 sts (consisting of 25 sts and 1 ch-5 sp).

Rows 12 and 13 Repeat Rows 2 and 3.

Rows 14-24 Ch 1, turn; working in back loops only, sc in each sc across.

Row 25 Repeat Row 3.

Row 26 (Seaming row) Ch 1, turn; fold mitt, bringing foundation row in front and up to meet last row (right side of mitt is to the outside); working through both thicknesses, si st in each st across, inserting hook into front loops across opposite side of foundation ch and back loops of last row. Fasten off.

RIGHT MITT

Ch 31.

Row 1 (RS) Working in back bars, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across—30 sc.

Rows 2-11 Ch 1, turn; working in back loops only, sc in each sc across.
