Supplies:

Yarn: worsted weight I used Red Heart Super Saver (acrilyc) in white, yellow, and pumpkin (orange). You will need less than one skein each per hat.

Hook: Size I for most crocheters. Note: I crochet very tight stitches and hook up 1-2 sizes for most patterns. I used a K for this hat.

Gauge: 12 DC + 9 Rounds = 4 inches (see notes below)
Finished hat measures approximately 9 inches in height with a 20 inch circumference.

Notes: I do not count the 2 chains at the beginning of each round as the first stitch. Because I crochet tightly, I frequently need to add a few rows onto hat patterns. If you need to subtract rows, be sure to subtract from the orange section or evenly from all of the sections to maintain a balance of color. You can also switch colors at different rows of you prefer a different ratio of colors.

Starting with white.

Round 1: Crochet 6 DC in a magic circle. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (6 DC)

Round 2: Chain 2, 2 DC in same stitch and in each stitch around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (12 DC)

Round 3: Chain 2, DC in same stitch, 2 DC in next stitch, (DC in next stitch, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (18 DC)

Round 4: Chain 2, DC in same stitch, DC in next stitch, 2 DC in following stitch (DC in each of in next 2 stitches, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (24 DC)

Round 5: Chain 2, DC in same stitch and each of the next 2 stitches, 2 DC in the following stitch, (DC in each of next 3 stitches, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (30 DC)

Finish off. Switch to orange.

Round 6: Chain 2, DC in same stitch and each of the next 3 stitches, 2 DC in the following stitch, (DC in each of next 4 stitches, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (36 DC)

Round 7: Chain 2, DC in same stitch and each of the next 4 stitches, 2 DC in the following stitch, (DC in each of next 5 stitches, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (42 DC)

Round 8: Chain 2, DC in same stitch and each of the next 5 stitches, 2 DC in the following stitch, (DC in each of next 6 stitches, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (48 DC)

Round 9: Chain 2, DC in same stitch and each of the next 6 stitches, 2 DC in the following stitch, (DC in each of next 7 stitches, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (54 DC)

Round 10: Chain 2, DC in same stitch and each of the next 7 stitches, 2 DC in the following stitch, (DC in each of next 8 stitches, 2 DC in following stitch) around. Join with slip stitch to first DC. (60 DC)

Round 11: Chain 2, DC in same stitch and in each stitch around. Join with slip stitch to first DC (60 stitches)

Rounds 12-16: Repeat round 11.

Finish off, switch to yellow.

Rounds 17-21: Repeat round 11.
