Crochet Candle Jar Cover

Materials and tools you will need:

  • Empty jar (I’ve used empty Doritos dip jar, bottom diameter 8cm, height 7cm)

  • 3.0mm crochet hook (look at these pretty hooks )
  • Approximately 15-20g of your preferred colour DK yarn (I used this yarn from Amazon)
  • Scissors (fancy new scissors?)

Abbreviations (US terms):

ch – chain

st – stitch

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

dc inc – double crochet increase

hdc – half double crochet

Beginning:

Start with magic circle and each round will be finished with sl st – rounds are not continuous.

Round 1: ch 3 and 12 dc into magic ring, finish off with sl st into ch of 3 from the beginning of this round [12]

Round 2: ch 3, (dc inc) repeat 12 times, finish off with sl st into ch of 3 from the beginning of this round [24]

Round 3: ch 3, (dc, dc inc in next st) repeat 12 times, finish off with sl st into ch of 3 from the beginning of this round [36]

Round 4 (in back loops only): ch 3, (dc in next 2 st, dc inc in next st) repeat 12 times, finish off with sl st into ch of 3 from the beginning of this round [48]

Round 5: ch 3, dc in next st, ch 2, skip 1 st, (dc in next 2 st, ch 2, skip 1 st) repeat 15 times, finish off with sl st into ch of 3 from the beginning of this round.

Round 6-10 (5 rounds): sl st in next st, now we will start from the middle ch of 2 from previous round: ch 2, dc in ch of 2 from previous round, ch 2, skip 2 st (which are 2 dc from previous round), (dc in next ch of 2 from previous round, ch 2, skip 2 st) repeat 15 times, finish off with sl st into ch of 2 from the beginning of this round.

Round 11: ch 1, (3 hdc in next ch of 2 from previous round) repeat 16 times, finish off with sl st in ch 1 from beginning of our round [48]

Round 12: (skip 1 st, 7 dc in next st, skip 1 st, sl st in next st) repeat 11 times, finish off with sl st.

Pop jar into our crochet candle jar cover, pop candle inside and it’s time to lit it up!
