Crochet Small Bear Toy

Here’s a simple and small little bear. I made this using a size 3.5 hook.

Head in brown:

Rd 1: ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hk (8)

Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (16)

Rd 3: (1 sc, 2sc in next sc) around (24)

Rd 4: (sc in next 2, 2sc) around (32)

Rd 5-9: sc around (32)

Rd 10: (sc in 2, sc2tog) around (24)

Rd 11: (sc, sc2tog)around (16)

STOP here: insert your safety eyes or embroider eyes on the face

Muzzle: with the same colour brown:

Rd 1: ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in next 4 ch, 2 sc in end ch. Continue around with 4 sc on the opposite side of the foundation ch. 2sc in last ch (12)

Rd 2-3: sc around (12). fasten off. Use a safety nose or embroider/crochet one on. Embroider on a mouth. Stuff lightly and sew onto head.

CONTINUE BEAR:

Rd 12: (2sctog)around (8)

Rd 13: sc around (8)

Stuff firmly, and continue around:

BODY

Rd 14: (sc, 2sc around) (12)

Rd 15: sc around (12)

Rd 16: 2sc in each st around (24)

Rd 17-19: sc around (24)

Rd 20: (sc, sc2tog) 16

Rd 21-22: sc around (16)

Rd 23: sc2tog around (8)

Rd 24: sc around (8). sl st, fasten off, stuff firmly and sew shut.

ARMS (MAKE 2)

Rd 1: ch 2, 6sc in 2nd ch from hk (6)

Rd 2-7: sc around (6). Sl st and fasten off. Do not stuff. Sew to body.

LEGS (MAKE 2)

Start with Pink:

Rd 1: ch 2. 6 sc in 2nd ch from hk, sl st and fasten off (6)

Rd 2: Attach brown with a sl st and 2sc in same st, continue 2sc around (12)

Rd 3: in back lps only, sc around (12)

Rd 4: sc around (12)

Rd 5: s2tog (6)

Rd 6-9: sc around (6)

Switch to working in rows — this will help with sewing the legs onto the body:

Row 7: sc in next 3 st, ch 1 and turn

Row 8: sc in 3 st, sl st and fasten off. Sew to body

TAIL:

Rd 1: ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hk

Rd 2: sc around (5). sl st, fasten off and sew
