Crochet House Applique

YOU WILL NEED
- I use 4-medium weight yarn for all the appliqués in this pattern.
- Colors you will need for wedding dress: white, black, brown, gray, pink and green
- A 5mm hook and a 6.5mm hook
- Tapestry needle
- Felt for backing (optional)
The stitches/ skills you will need to know and KEY:
- Chain (ch)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Half double crochet (hdc)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Decrease (dec)
- Weave ends and finish off.
Final Dimensions:
8.5 x 7.5 inches
French Knot: Insert the needle from the back of the work to the front, wrap the yarn around the needle twice, insert the needle right next to the spot that it is being pulled up from the ice cream and carefully pull through to the back.
CROCHET PATTERN
The House
With two strands of white on a 6.5mm hook chain 19
Row 1: sc in the second chain from the hook, sc across (18 sc)
Row 2- 14: sc across (18 sc) Finish off and weave ends
Row 15: Reattach the two strands on white to the 5th stitch in on row 14, sc across the next 10 stitches, chain 1 and turn (10 sc)
Row 16: dec, sc in the next 6 sc, dec (8 sc)
Row 17: sc across (8 sc)
Row 18: dec, sc in the next 4 sc, dec (6 sc)
Row 19: sc across (6 sc)
Row 20: dec, sc in the next 2 sc, dec (4 sc)
Row 21: sc across (4 sc)
Row 22: dec, dec (2 sts)
Row 23: sl st the last two stitches together. Finish off and weave ends.
With two strands of back on a 6.5mm hook, main 2 separate chains of 10. Weave ends and hot glue these pieces to the white peak.
The Roof
With two strands of black on a 6.5 mm hook, chain 19
Row 1: sc in the second chain from the hook, sc across (18 sc)
Row 2-3: sc across (18 sc)
Row 4: dec, sc in the next 14 sc, dec (16 sts)
Row 5: sc across (16 sc)
Row 6: dec, sc in the next 12 sc, dec (14 sts)
Row 7- 9: sc across (14 sc)
Finish off and weave ends.
Hot glue the roof to the back of the house
Chimney
With one strand of gray on a 5mm hook, chain 8
Double crochet in the third chain from the hook, double crochet across (6 dc)
Hot glue the chimney on the back side of the roof.
DOOR:
With a 5mm hook and one strand of yarn on the hook. Use a 4-medium weight yarn, I am using Vanna’s Choice from Lion Brand.
Chain 8, sc in the second chain from the hook. Sc in the rest of the chains. (7 sc)
Rows 2-13: sc across (7 sc)
Make a door knob by placing a french knot where a door knob would be, at about row 5.
Insert the needle from the back of the work to the front, wrap the yarn around the needle twice, insert the needle right next to the spot that it is being pulled up from the door and carefully pull through to the back.
WINDOWS
Make 2
With grey and a 5mm hook, chain 5, sc in the second chain from the hook, sc in the rest of the chains. (4 sc)
Row 2-4: sc across (4 sc) Finish off and weave ends.
Add a white border to the window by attaching white to any corner. Four sc on each side with a chain 1 in each corner.
Make two separate chains of 4. Hot glue the chains in a cross in the center of the window. Weave the ends.
SHUDDERS
Make 4
Chain 9, hdc in the third chain from the hook, hdc in the rest of the chains. (7 hdc)
FLOWER BOXES
With brown and a 5mm crochet hook, chain 8, hdc in the third chain from the hook, hdc in the rest of the chains. (6 hdc). Finish off and weave ends.
With green and a 5mm crochet hook, chain 8, dc in the third chain from the hook, *sl st in the next, dc in the next*. Repeat from *-* for the rest of the chains.
Hot glue along the very bottom of the green to the top of the brown flower box.
Now take a long stand of whatever color you want your flower to be and a tapestry needle. You will be making french knots in random spots for the flowers. Make a knot at one end, needle on the other
Insert the needle from the back of the work to the front pull all the way through until the knot stops, wrap the yarn around the needle twice, insert the needle right next to the spot that it is being pulled up from the green and carefully pull through to the back. Repeat until you have your desired amount of flowers.
