  • Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream in Red (2 skeins), Black (1 skein), White (1 skein), and Aloe Vera (2 skeins)
  • H/5.0 mm hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Pattern notes & stitches to know

  • Sl st – slip stich
  • Ch – chain
  • Dc – double crochet
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Bobble – join black yarn in the last step of the last sc you work before the bobble, *yarn over, insert hook in to next stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops* repeat from * to * 4 more times, you should have 6 loops on your hook, (note: my picture doesn’t look like it has 6 loops, but it does, the 6th is just hiding) yarn over with red, pull through all 6 loops on

  • Width across the top: S 6/7 (11”) M 8/9 (12.5”) L 10/12 (14”)
  • Length: S 6/7 (12”) M 8/9 (14″) L 10/12 (16″)

Gauge:

  • 12 dc = 4”
  • 8 rows = 4” (rows of dc and sc alternating)

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from the hook and across (64 sc, (68 sc) [72 sc])

Join to the first sc with a sl st to make a circle, now work in the round

Round 2: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (64 dc, (68 dc) [72 dc])

Round 3: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (64 sc, (68 sc) [72 sc])

Round 4: repeat round 2

Round 5: repeat round 3

Repeat rounds 2 & 3 to round 9

Round 10: ch 2, *dc in 3 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (80 dc (85 dc) [90 dc])

Round 11: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (80 sc)

(size medium) Round 12: ch 2, 2 dc in first stitch, dc in next 27 stitches, 2 dc in next, dc in next 28 stitches, 2 dc in next, dc in remaining 27 stitches around, join to first dc with sl st (88 dc)

(size large) Round 12: ch 2, *dc in 14 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (96 dc)

Round 13: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (80 sc, (88 sc), [96 sc])

Round 14: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (80 dc, (88 dc), [96 dc])

For Medium repeat rounds 13 & 14 two more times to round 18

For Large repeat rounds 13 & 14 four more times to round 22

Change to White

Change to Aloe Vera

RUFFLES

Next you will make the ruffles along the bottom. Working along the top of the rows. You will work the stitches right next to the first row of white, making a row that ruffles over the top

Join white yarn to row 21

Row 1: ch 2, 2 dc in same stitch and in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (160 dc, (176 dc), [192 dc])

Row 2: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (160 sc, (176 sc), [192 sc)

Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Repeat rows 1 & 2 for the ruffles

STRAPS (make 2)

Ch 21 (23) [25] – chain can be made any size

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from the hook and across (20 sc, (22 sc), [24 sc])

Row 2: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in each stitch across (40 dc, (44 dc), [48 dc])

Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing

Sew the straps to the top

Fasten off, weave in your ends
