Crochet Bean Stitch Washcloth

Crochet Bean Stitch Washcloth is a delightful project that combines practicality with creativity. This cute washcloth not only serves a functional purpose but also adds a touch of homemade charm to your daily routine. The bean stitch creates a beautiful textured pattern that feels soft against the skin and makes washing up a little more enjoyable. Whether you're making it for yourself or as a thoughtful gift for a friend, this washcloth is sure to bring smiles and a sense of coziness to any bathroom. Happy crocheting!

You can use any yarn and hook you prefer to crochet the bean stitch. I’m using Debbie bliss dulcie yarn and a 5mm crochet hook for this tutorial.

Stitches Used & Code (US Term)

  • ch = chain
  • YO = yarn over hook
  • sk = skip
  • st = stitch(es)
  • REP = repeat

Notes:

  • For the bean stitch you can start with an odd number of ch.
  • This crochet bean stitch is a 1 row repeat (row 2)

Crochet Bean Stitch Pattern

Row 1:

Step 1: Start with a ch that is an odd number. I made 17 ch.

Step 2: Insert hook into the third ch from hook and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook)

Step 3: YO, insert hook into the same st and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook)

Step 4: YO, insert hook into the same st and pull up a loop (6 loops on hook)

Step 5: YO and pull through all 6 loops on hook.

Step 6: ch 1 to secure the st. (Check picture below)

You just made your first bean stitch. To make the next bean stitch and complete the row just follow the instructions below.

*sk next ch, and work into next st following steps 2-6 above* REP from *TO* across. Total of 8 bean st. Check picture below

Row 2: Turn, ch 1 (do not count as a st), *sk the first st (the ch which secure the bean st), and work the bean st into next st (steps 2-6 above)* REP from *TO* across. Total of 8 bean st. Check picture below
