Materials: Small amounts of red, green, and white worsted weight yarn; crochet hooks size D and I; invisible thread, sewing needle

Square:

With size I hook and red, ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, *3 dc, ch 2, rep from 8 twice more, join with a sl st to top of beg. ch 3.
Rnd 2: Sl st into first ch 2 sp, ch 3. In same sp work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) * ch 1, in next ch 2 sp work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) rep from * twice more; ch 1, join with a sl st in top of beg. ch 3.
Rnd 3: St st into first ch 2 corner sp; ch 3, in same sp work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), * ch 1, work 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, in next corner sp work (3 dc, ch 2 3 dc); rep from * twice more; ch 1, work 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, join.
Rnd 4:St st into first ch 2 corner sp; ch 3, in same sp work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), * (ch 1, work 3 dc in next ch 1 sp) twice, ch 1, in next corner sp work (3 dc, ch 2 3 dc); rep from * twice more; (ch 1, work 3 dc in next ch 1 sp) twice, ch 1, join.

Stocking

With green and size D crochet hook, ch 16.
Row 1: Sc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in each of next 4 ch, hdc in each of next 3 ch, work 2 hdc in last ch/ = 15 st.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. work 2 sc in first st, sc in each remaining st across to last st, work hdc, dc in last st. = 17 st.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Work 2 sc in first st, sc in each remaining st across to last st, work 2 sc in last st. = 19 sc.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Work even.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Sk first sc, sc in next sc and in each remaining sc across. = 18 sc.
Row 6: Ch 1, turn. Sk first sc, sc in next sc and in each sc across to last 2 sc, sk next sc, sc in last sc. = 16 sc.
Row 7: Repeat row 6 = 14 sc.
Row 8: Ch 1, turn. Work 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 7 sc, sk next sc, sc in next sc, (leave remaining sc unworked) = 10 sc.
Row 9: Ch 1, turn. Sk first sc, sc in next sc and in each remaining sc across to last sc, work 2 sc in last sc = 10 sc.
Row 10: Ch 1, turn. Work even.
Row 11: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc across to last sc, work 2 in last sc = 11 sc.
Rows 12 — 14: Ch 1, turn. Work even.
Row 15: Repeat row 11 = 12 sc.
Row 16: Ch 1, turn. Work even.
Row 17: Rep row 11 = 13 sc/
Row s 18 — 19: Ch 1, turn. Work even
Stocking Edging: Ch 1, DO NOT TURN. Work in sc evenly spaced around stocking edge, join. Finish off green.
Stocking “Fur” Trim: With right side of stocking facing you, with size D hook, join white with a slip st. in first sc at right edge of stocking top.
Row 1: Ch 1, work sc in same st as joining and in each remaining sc across top of stocking. = 13 sc.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn. Working in back loops for this row only, (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3) in first sc and in each remaining sc across to last sc. In last sc work sc, ch 3, sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Working in unused loops of row 1, work sc in each st across = 13 sc.
Row 4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Working in unused loops of row 3, work sc in each st across = 13 sc.
Row 6: Repeat row 2. Finish off, weave in all ends.

Finishing: Using sewing needle and invisible thread, sew stocking to ce4nter of Square.
