With its intricate pattern and cozy texture, this basket is perfect for storing your favorite trinkets or organizing small items around the house. The warm hues and soft feel of the yarn used in this crochet project will surely bring a smile to your face every time you see it. Whether you're a seasoned crocheter looking for a fun new challenge or a beginner eager to try something new, this basket is an enjoyable and rewarding project to work on. So grab your yarn and hooks, and let's get crocheting!

App. size: 4 1/2" across base.

Materials required:
worsted weight yarn in choice of colours (I used 2, but would love to see one done in more!)
Crochet hook size 3.75
Small piece of plastic canvas (I used a 3 ½" circle) for base.
Small amount of eyelash yarn (optional)

Notes:
Always start rows/rounds of sc with ch1, does NOT count as first st, sc in same st to begin.
Always start rounds of dc with ch3, DOES count as first st.

Base:
Ch4. 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st to top of beg ch. (12dc)
Rnd 2: 2dc in each st around. (24)
Rnd 3: (2dc in 1 st, dc in next) around. (36)
Rnd 4: (2dc in 1 st, dc in next 2) around. (48) FO. Use this piece to cut a piece of plastic canvas slightly smaller than base.
Make 2nd piece the same, but do NOT FO.

Now, we crochet 8 ‘sides'. Hold both pieces of base together, and working through both layers for this and subsequent sides:
Row 1: sc in 6 sts, turn.
Rows 2-11: sc across, turn. FO at end of row 11.

For remainder of sides: **About half way around, insert plastic canvas.
Join yarn in next unworked st of round 4 of base. Repeat instructions for 1st side.

Set this aside.

Make 3 bands in white:
Ch 48. Being careful not to twist ch, join with sl st in first ch to form ring.
Rnd 1: Sc in each ch around. Join. (48)
Rnd 2&3: Sc around. Join. FO.

Now for the tricky part!
Weave 1st side in and out of bands, starting by working over the first band at bottom. Weave next side, being sure to start by working under the first band at bottom. Use a paper clip, or a small piece of contrasting yarn to hold two sides together above top band. Continue weaving sides, being sure to tack adjoining sides together.

Rim:
Join red in any st. Sc in each sc around, side pieces will be joined as you crochet around.
Rnd 2: (Sc, ch1) in each st around.
Optional: FO rim after 1st round. Holding one strand of yarn and 1 strand of eyelash together, join in any st and work rnd 2. Picture shows rnd 2 worked with the two strands.
