SUPPLIES

Crochet hook, size F/3.75 mm

Cotton yarn. Small amounts of Color A, Color B for accents, white, and black.

Polyester stuffing

Scissors

Yarn needle

HEAD/ BODY

Use Color A yarn.

Rnd 1: Sc 6 in magic ring OR Ch 2, Sc 6 in the second ch from the hook (6 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc in each of the first rnd sts (12 sts)

Rnd 3:[Inc in one st, Sc in the next st] repeat 6 times around (18 sts)

Rnds 4-5: Sc 18 (18 sts)

Rnd 6: [Inc, Sc in the next two sts] rep 6 times around (24 sts)

Rnd 7: Sc 24 (24 sts)

Rnd 8: [Dec, Sc 2] rep 6 times (18 sts)

Rnd 9: [Dec, SC] rep 6 times (12 sts)

Rnds 10-11: Sc 12 (12 sts)

Rnd 12: [Dec, Sc] rep 4 times (8 sts)

Stuff firmly.

Rnd 13: [Dec, Sc 2] rep 2 (6 sts)

Rnd 14: [Dec, Sc 1] rep 2 (4 sts)

Pinch the two sides of the open end together and Sc 2 through both layers to flatten and close. This is Row 1.

Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2: Sl St in the first st of the previous row. Ch 7. Skip one ch-st, and work 1 Sc in each of the remaining 6 ch-sts, working down the chain. Sl St in the second st of the previous row to anchor the ch-sts.

Finish off and weave in end.

Now look at the finished tail. After you finished Row 2, you should have 13 sts around the outside of the tail that you can work into.

With your Color B, start in the first ch-st of Row 2.

To join Color B, insert your hook into the first ch-st.

Yarn Over, pull through ( there is now one loop on your hook). Insert your hook back into the same ch-st. YO, pull through. (2 loops on hook).

YO and pull through both loops. This is the first Sc.

Now work 1 Sc in each of the next 5 ch-sts, up one side of the tail.

Work 3 Sc in the seventh ch-st.

Work 1 Sc in the remaining 6 ch-sts to finish the tail.

Finish off and weave in ends.

If you'd like, you can use Color B on a needle to make small back stitches or French knots to add detail to the body.

LEG

Make 2. Use Color A yarn.

Rnd 1: Sc 5 in magic ring OR Ch 2, Sc 5 in the second ch from the hook. (5 sts)

Rnds 2-5: Sc 5 (5 sts)

Finish off and weave in end, leaving the base open.

Sew the open end of each leg to either side of the body, near where the body joins the tail.

EYE

Make 2. Use white yarn.

Rnd 1: Sc 6 in magic ring OR Ch 2, Sc 6 in the second ch from the hook. (6 sts)

Rnd 2: [Inc, Sc 2] rep 2 (8 sts)

Rnd 3: [Inc, Sc 3] rep 2 (10 sts)

Finish off and weave in end. Use black yarn to sew a pupil on the eye.

Sew a finished eye to either side of the front of the head.
