Note: The border shown here adds approximately 1 inch to each side of the blanket. The sizing instructions shown in the chart below do not include the border. Measurements are given in inches. Remember that personal gauge and tension level will affect final sizing. Due to the popularity of weighted blankets, the approximate weight in pounds is included.
Stitch Multiple for Custom Sizing: Make Row 1 with any odd number of stitches.

Beg LSS — Beginning Large Star Stitch: Insert hook in loop created by final yarn over of previous dc st and pull up loop, insert hook in back loop of bottom half of previous dc st and pull up loop, insert hook in same st as dc and pull up loop, [insert hook in next st and pull up loop] twice (6 loops on hook), yo and pull through all loops.
LSS — Large Star Stitch: Insert hook in ch just made and pull up loop, insert hook in back loop of bottom half of previous LSS and pull up loop, insert hook in last st used in previous LSS and pull up loop, [insert hook in next st and pull up loop] twice (6 loops on hook), yo and pull through all loops.

Star Maker Crochet Blanket Pattern Instructions
Row 1 [WS]: With Color A, FSC as directed on the Sizing Chart above for your size.
Row 2 [RS]: CSDC in first st, Beg LSS in next st, ch 1, *LSS in next st, ch 1; rep from * across, LDC in last st; turn. (st count will be the count in Row 1 +1)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across until 2 sts rem, skip the next st, sc in the last st changing to Color B; turn.(same st count as Row 1)
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 to the desired length, changing colors every 2 rows, and ending on a Color A Row 3 repeat.
Last Row [RS]: Ch 1, hdc in each st across; do NOT turn.
Add the Border
Round 1 [RS]: Continuing with Color A, ch 1, sc down the side of the blanket (working 3 sc in the side of each Color A stripe, and 2 sc in the side of each Color B stripe, plus 1 sc in the side of the first and last rows), ch 2 at the corner, sc in each st across the bottom of Row 1, ch 2 at the corner, sc up the next side of the blanket in the same manner as the first side, ch 2 at the corner, sc in each st of the Last Row, ch 1, sc in first sc of rnd.
