Headband:
Taking your 7.00mm crochet hook and chunky yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 75 Chains. {Note: Add or take away sets of 2 foundation chains if you’d like to create a smaller or larger headband.}
Row 1– {Note: This pattern features a Star Stitch which can be a bit complicated to understand.
Insert your crochet hook in the 2nd chain, and pick up a loop. Pick up 1 loop in each of the next 4 chain stitches (6 loops on your hook). Yarn over and pull through all the loops on your hook. Chain 1 (this forms eye of star), *Pick up a loop in the eye of last star you created, pick up a loop through the back of last loop of previous star, then pick up a loop through same chain as the last loop of previous star. Pick up a loop in each of the next 2 chain stitches, (6 loops on your hook). Yarn over and pull through all the loops on your hook. Chain 1. Repeat from the * all across. Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet in the last chain of this row, (The same chain as the last loop of the last star of this row). Turn your work.
Row 2– Chain 1, Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch. Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the “Eye” of the next star stitch. Crochet 2 Single Crochets in the “Eye” of each star, all the way across. Crochet 1 Single Crochet into the top of the turning chain at the end of this row. Turn your work.
Row 3– Chain 2, pick up a loop in the front strand of 2nd chain from your crochet hook, then pick up another loop in the 2nd chain, but this time in the back strand of that chain. Pick up a loop in the first stitch of this row. Pick up a loop in each of the next 3 stitches (single crochets). Yarn over, and pull through all 6 loops on your hook. Chain 1, *Pick up a loop in the eye of last star you created, pick up a loop through the back of last loop of previous star, then pick up a loop through same stitch as the last loop of previous star. Pick up a loop in each of the next 2 stitches, (6 loops on your hook). Yarn over and pull through all the loops on your hook. Chain 1. Repeat from the * all across. Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet in the last stitch of this row, (The same stitch as the last loop of the last star of this row).
Row 4 – 8– Repeat rows 2 – 3. {Note: You can either add or take away a couple sets of rows 2 – 3, depending on how wide you’d like your headband to be.}
Finishing:
Join
the two ends of your headband together, making sure to overlap them
by 2.5″. Fold the end that’s on the top in an arrow/pointed
shape. Sew the two ends together, on top of each other. Sew
the wooden button on top of the over-lapped area.
