Crochet Card Holder

The stitches used in this pattern for the crochet card holder are:

• sl st – slip stitch
• ch – chain stitch
• sc – single crochet stitch

Materials needed for the project:

• crochet hook ( I am using a 3mm)
• yarn (I am using few scraps of pink yarn — perfect for scrap yarn busting project)
• scissors
• needle
• button
• optional: stitch marker, ruler

Pattern for the basic crochet cardholder:

• R0: ch 20
• R1: ch1, in the 2nd stitch from the hook make 2sc, 18sc (in each ch), 3sc in last ch, 19sc
• R2: BACK LOOPS ONLY 22sc
• R3- (last-2): continuous rounds 22sc

Lay your card holder flat and measure the middle of the crochet card holder – I used a ruler and marked the middle stitch with a stitch marker

• R(last -1): sc to the marker -1, ch15 for button loop — check if your button fits and position — you may need to do more or less), skip 3 st, sc to the end
• R(last): {ch1, sl st} in each sc, in the button loop make 20sc in the ch15 – at the end join invisible

Sew on the button and you have made yourself (or someone else) a single crochet card holder.

Notes:

• Row 0 is made from chain stitches (ch) — in my case with a 3mm crochet hook I made 20ch
• Row 1 is made in top and bottom loops of the chains with corner (first and last) stitch having 3sc stitches done in 1
• Row 2 is done in the BACK loop only — to create the nice edge. All the rest of the rows are done in continuous rounds. The simplicity of using single crochet stitches. If you would use for example double crochet stitches have in mind you would have to close each row and make a ch3 to go into the next row
• Row (last — 1) is the row where you mark and make the button loop
• Row (last) is the last row where I show you an alternative way to finish off your project. No more endings with straight single crochet stitches.
