Crochet Flower Coasters

YARN: some 4 ply US / 10 ply AU worsted weight yarn

HOOK: 3.50 mm hook or size E for US.

These coasters are 4 by 4 inches or 11 by 11 cms

ABBREVIATIONS

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st = Stitch

sk a st = Skip a stitch

YO = Yarn Over

SC = Single Crochet

HDC = Half Double Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

* = Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

To Start

With your MC ch 5 and sl st to join to form a ring.

Round 1
Ch 1 and DC 16 into the center of the ring (16)

Round 2
Ch 1 and in the same st do 2 dc’s, and do 2 dc’s in all stitches around for a total of 32 sts. Ch 1 and fasten off yarn and work in ends. (32)

Round 3

Then change to your color to the pedal color and ch 6, then DC in 3rd ch from the hook, the HDC in next ch, sc in next ch and sl st into last ch.

Round 4

Now sl st into the next st on your flower center and ch 6 and repeat. Continue this until you have 17 petals, on your 17th petal you will sl st into the beginning st of the first petal.

Round 5

Change back to the same color you used for the center of the flower and sl st into the top of any petal and ch 3, sl st into the top of the next petal and ch 3, continue around until you have all petals connected and fasten off yarn.
