Materials:
Worsted weight yarn:
25 yards MC
35 yards CC
5 yards white
2 yards yellow
Crochet hook size H (5.0 mm)
18-mm wiggly eyes

Directions:
Rnd 1: With MC yarn, ch 2 (or magic ring). Sc 6 in second ch from hook. Do not join. Work in continuous rnds throughout.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc (12 sc).
Rnd 3: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 4: *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 5: *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around (30 sc).
Rnd 6: *1 sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc,* repeat around (36 sc).
Rnds 7-14: Sc in each st. Fasten off MC.
Rnd 15: Working in BLO, attach CC yarn, ch 1, hdc in each st. Join with sl st in first hdc.
Rnds 16-17: Ch 1, *fp hdc, bp hdc,* repeat around. Join with sl st in first hdc.
Rnd 18: Ch 1, *dec over next 2 sts, sc in next 4 sts,* repeat around (30 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 19: Ch 1, hdc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 20: Ch 1, *dec over next 2 sts, hdc in next 3 sts,* repeat around (24 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 21: Ch 1, hdc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 22: Ch 1, *hdc in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st,* repeat around. Join with sl st. Fasten off CC.
Weave in all ends.

Drawstring:

With CC yarn, make a chain 12″ long and knot both ends. Pull through loops made in Rnd 22 of penguin’s hat.

FACE:
Row 1: With white yarn, ch 7, sc in 2nd ch and in each of next 5 ch (6 sc).
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st (6 sc).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 6 sts, turn to work down edge, sc in row ends. Working in unused loops of foundation ch,
*sl st in first lp, 5 dc in next lp, sl st in next lp* repeat once, turn to work sc down row ends on the other side. Fasten off leaving
12” length for sewing.
Attach wiggly eyes in center st of dc clusters of Row 3. Sew face to head.

BEAK:
Rnd 1: With yellow yarn, ch 2 (or magic circle), 3 sc in 2nd ch. Do not join. Work in continuous rounds throughout.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts (4 sc).
Rnd 3: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts (5 sc). Join with sl st. Fasten off leaving 6” length for sewing.
Sew beak to face centered just below eyes.
