Materials:

  • US-K. 6.5 mm hook — Susan Bates
  • 75 yds Red Heart Super Saver
  • (4-Worsted; 100% acrylic; 198 g/7 oz, 333 m/364 yds)
  • Color A: Cherry Red
  • Color B: White
  • Stitch markers

Gauge: 3 sc x 3 rows = 1" with yarn held doubled

Finished Size: approx 2.5" square at base, 4" tall excluding handle

Note:

  • This pattern begins with Rows, and switches to Rounds.
  • YARN IS HELD DOUBLED THROUGHOUT THE PATTERN


Little Bow Gift Bag Instructions:

Row 1: With Color A, held doubled, ch 8, skip the ch closest to the hook, sc in each rem ch to end; turn. (7 sc)

Rows 2 — 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across; turn.

Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, sc 6 across sides of rows, sc in bottom of each foundation ch, sc 6 across sides of rows; join. (26 sc)

Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join.

Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with Color B, held doubled.

Rnd 10: Ch 1, hdc in each st around; join.

Rnd 11: Ch 1, hdc in each st aroun; join with Color A, held doubled.

Rnds 12 and 13: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join.

Rnd 14: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with Color B, held doubled. Break Color A.

Rnd 15: Ch 1, hdc in each st around; join.

Rnd 16: Ch 1, hdc in first 6 sts, ch 20 (or to desired handle length), sl st in last hdc made, hdc in next 11 sts, ch 4, skip 4 sts, hdc in last 5 sts; join and finish off. Weave in ends.

Make Bow:

Row 1: With Color A, held doubled, ch 8, skip the ch closest to the hook, sc in each rem ch to end; turn. (7 sts)

Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, hdc in first 3 sts, sc in next st, hdc in last 3 sts; turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, hdc in first 3 sts, sc in next st, hdc in last 3 sts. Break yarn leaving a long tail. Weave in ends, leaving long tails at center of bow uncut.

Assembly:

Fold center of bow into Z shape, and use long tails to wrap around center and secure. Sew to Rnd 16 on inside of bag, opposite the ch-4 opening (see image below).

To use, fill bag and then slip bow through ch-4 opening to close.
