Joining
- Crocheting over the two panels, ch sps and, and the remaining sts in section 1.
- It’s easier to crochet around the chains than into the chains.
- Evenly space the sts (hdc) around the 10 chain spaces and the stitches from the last round on the base.
Round 1: Ch 1, *6 sc over both panels, rep from * around, join with a sl st to the beginning ch sp. 60 sc.
Joining the two panels
Put the two circles together.
With the wrong side to the wrong side and right sides outside, facing you.
Continue with color B
Sew/join them together
Round 1: Ch 1, sc over both panels, leaving 5 stitches on both panels before the end to insert the stick.
Fasten off.
Set aside.
Section 3: Stick
With Color B
Round 1: In a magic circle, ch 1, 10 sc in MC, do not join. 10 sc
Rounds 2 – 27: Sc in each st around. 10 sc.
Increase or decrease the number of repeats as you see fit.
Leave about 20 – 25 cm of yarn for sewing and cut yarn.
To stuff the stick:
- You can use fiberfill if it’s destined to children and you want a safe toy, the downside being that it will be all flexible and will bend with the weight of the lollipop spiral.
- You could use a pipe cleaner, but it will also be a bit too flexible and not child-safe.
- My preferred option is to use a wooden stick with a rigid stick inside. It should not go out quickly if it’s big enough (like chopstick diameter) and if the ends are flat and not sharp.
Pick up the upper part and properly sew the remaining sts to the stick.
Sew in all ends and enjoy.
