Sizing

The slippers shown have a foot length of approx. 10” from toe to heel and 10” from the heel to the calf.

To adjust the length of the foot, add or remove the number of «work even” rounds.

To adjust the width, add or remove the number of stitches in the increase rounds (Rounds 1-12).

In this case, my foot length is about 9» and the width (at the widest point) is 9" around. The sock has a total length of 10" (33 rounds + 12 or so rows in the heel) and a width of 10" around at Round 12 (36 stitches) around.

Gauge

16 rounds and 15 sc = 4" x 4" (Foot section)

Pattern Notes

Feel free to customize the colors and switch them at any point based on your preference.

The slippers are worked from the toe up as follows:

Foot

  • The foot, starting with the toe is worked in rounds.
  • Slip stitch to the first stitch at the end of each round, do not turn.
  • The starting chain does not count as a stitch so you will work the first stitch into the same space as the slip stitch.

Heel

  • The heel is worked in rows.
  • The starting chain does not count as a stitch.
  • Once you have the heel rows completed you will bring the first and last stitch from Row 11 together and slip stitch to join — this will create the slipper opening. There will be a small gap in the back of the heel, which is sewn later.

Ankle

  • The ankle is worked in rounds.
  • Slip stitch to the first stitch at the end of each round, do not turn.
  • The starting chain does not count as a stitch so you will work the first stitch into the same space as the slip stitch.
  • Round 7 of the ankle is worked in the Front Loops Only — this will make it easier to sew the Inside Mouth to the back loops later.

Outside Mouth

  • The outside mouth is added after joining yarn at Round 9 of the ankle.
  • The mouth is first worked in rounds (join with a slip stitch at the end of each round, do not turn) and then in rows.
  • The starting chain does not count as a stitch.

Inside Mouth

  • The inside mouth is worked as a separate piece, first in rounds (join with a slip stitch at the end of each round, do not turn) and then in rows.
  • The starting chain does not count as a stitch.
  • Once it’s completed it’s sewn into the slipper in the back loops of Round 7 of the ankle.

Eyes

  • The eyes are worked in continuous rounds.
  • Do not join with a slip stitch at the end of the round and do not turn.

Fins

  • The eyes are worked in continuous rounds.
  • Do not join with a slip stitch at the end of the round and do not turn.
  • Use a stitch marker to keep track of rounds.
