Crochet Pear Amigurumi

Light green yarn.

Dark green yarn.

Black yarn scrap.

2 x safety eyes.

Stuffing.

This pattern is written in US crochet terms.

The number in brackets at the end of each round indicates the total number of stitches.

You can use whatever method you like to start your amigurumi, I prefer to chain 2 and work into the first stitch but if you like a magic circle you go right ahead.

I used cotton DK yarn and a 4mm hook for my big pear, and acrylic DK and a 3mm hook for the mini pear. You can use whatever yarn you have to hand, I'd suggest sizing down your hook 0.5mm — 1.0mm from the recommended size to ensure your stitches are tight. DK yarn and a 3mm hook will result in a smaller pear and chunky yarn and a 5mm hook will be slightly larger, as you can see in the picture above. But remember, all pears are beautiful.

I sometimes use a little dollop of craft glue to keep the smile in position.

Stitch guide.

CH: chain

SS: Slip stitch

SC: Single crochet

HDC: Half double crochet

DC: Double crochet

INC: 2 SC into stitch

DEC: Decrease next 2 SC together

*_*: Repeat _ as many times as instructed

Positivity Pear Pattern.

Ch2, 6SC into second chain from hook.

1: *INC* x 6 (12)

2: *SC, INC* x 6 (18)

3: SC, *INC, 2SC* x 5, INC, SC (24)

4: *3SC, INC* x 6 (30)

5-8: SC around (30)

Insert eyes between rounds 6 and 7, approx 3 stitches apart.

9: *3SC, DEC* x 6 (24)

10: SC around (24)

11: SC, *DEC, 2SC* x 5, DEC, SC (18)

12: 2SC, *DEC, 4SC* x 2, DEC, 2SC (15)

13-17: SC around (15)

Stuff firmly as you go from this point.

18: *1SC, DEC* x 5 (10)

19: *DEC* x 5 (5)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Use a black scrap to sew on facial details using the photo as a guide.

Leaf and stalk.

CH6. Starting in second chain from hook, SC, HDC, SC, HDC, 3SC in the last space. Working along the other side of the chain, HDC, DC, HDC, SS.

Without fastening off, CH8. Starting in second chain from hook, 7SC along the chain. SS to the last stitch of the leaf, and fasten off leaving a long tail to attach the leaf and stalk to the top of the pear.

Weave in ends.
