Crochet Colorful Potholder

Materials Needed:

• Size H, 5.00 mm crochet hook
• Cotton yarn in 3 colors, I used Lion Brand Ice Cream Cotton Blend in “Lemon Citron” for the yellow color and Lily Sugar n’ Cream in pink and white.
• Blunt needle

Abbreviations:

• ch- chain
• st(s)- stitch(es)
• hk- hook
• sp- space
• sc- single crochet
• dc- double crochet
• htr- half treble
• tr- treble
• tr cl- treble cluster
• sl st- slip stitch

Final Measurement:

7.5” x 7.5”

Sun Square:

With white yarn ch 6, sl st to join.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 tr), 15 tr into circle, sl st at top of ch 3 sp to join (16).

Round 2: Switch to yellow yarn, ch 1, dc in first tr, *ch 2, 1 dc in next tr,* repeat from * around, 2 ch, sl st at top of first st to join (16 sts, 16 ch sp).

Round 3: Sl st in first ch 2 sp, ch 3, 1 tr, *ch 2, 2 tr cl in next ch 2 sp,* repeat from * around, ch 2, sl st at top of first st to join. Fasten off.

Round 4: Switch to pink yarn, pick up at st in any ch 2 sp, ch 3 (counts as 1 tr), 2 tr, ch 3, 3 tr in same sp, 2 htr in next 3 spaces, *3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr in same sp, 2 htr in next 3 spaces,* repeat from * 2 more time, sl st at top of first st to join (48).

Round 5: Switch to white yarn, ch 1, sc in each st around with 3 sc in each corner sp (56).

Fasten off, weave in ends.

White Square:

Ch 22

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from the hk and each ch to end, turn (20).

Rows 2-12: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn (20).

Do not fasten off, ch 1.

With the sun square on top of the white square, continue to sc through both squares around all sides with 2 sc in each corner.

Sl st in first st, ch 7, sl st in first st, ch 1, turn, sc 10 into ch 10 sp, sl st in first st and fasten off.

Weave in ends.
