Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: White – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m) Light Purple – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m) Dark Purple – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m) Small Amounts Yellow (Hair), Blue and Black (Eyes). (I Love This Cotton – White #6, Amethyst #250, Mulberry #262, Banana #256, Royalty #90, Black) Red Embroidery Floss (Mouth) Yarn Needle, Embroidery Needle.

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Gauge: 3 sc = 1″, 4 sc rows = 1″.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Single Crochet Decrease: (sc dec): Draw up a lp in each of next 2 sts, yo and draw through 3 lps on hook.

DISHCLOTH

Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at bottom, with Light Purple, ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch) across. (20 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (20 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, (sc in next sc) across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc. (22 sc)

Rows 4-11: Rep Rows 2-3 four times. (24, 26, 28, 30 sc)

Rows 12-15: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Finish off Light Purple and weave in ends.

Row 16: With wrong side facing, join Dark Purple with sc to back lp of first sc, working in back loops only, ch 3, sc in same sc, (ch 3, sc in next sc) across to last sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in last sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Row 17: With right side facing, working in unused lps of Row 15 only, join White with sc to first sc, (sc in next sc) across. (30 sc)

Row 18: Ch 1, turn, working in both loops, sc in each sc across. (30 sc)

Rows 19-21: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (30 sc)

Row 22: Ch 1, turn, sc dec, (sc in next sc) across to last 2 sc, sc dec. (28 sc)

Row 23: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Row 24-31: Rep Rows 22-23 four times. (26, 24, 22, 20 sc)

Row 32: With wrong side facing, join Yellow with sc to back lp of first sc, working in back loops only, ch 5, sc in same sc, (ch 5, sc in next sc) across to last sc, (sc, ch 5, sc) in last sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Row 33: With right side facing, working in unused lps of Row 31 only, join Dark Purple with sl st to first sc, (sc in next sc) across to last 2 sc, sc dec. (18 sc)

Row 34: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Row 35: Ch 1, turn, sc dec, (sc in next sc) across to last 2 sc, sc dec. (16 sc)

Rows 36-39: Rep Rows 34-35 twice. (14, 12 sc)

Row 40: Ch 1, turn, sc dec, (sc in next sc) across to last 2 sc, sc dec. (10 sc)DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging

Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn, sc evenly around dishcloth, changing colors to match colors used; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Eyes (Make 2)

Row 1: (Right Side) With Blue, ch 2, (sc, 2 dc, tr, 2 dc, sc) in 2nd ch from hook. Finish off leaving long end.

Finishing – use photo as guide

– Using long ends, sew Eyes in position on front of dishcloth.

– With Black and yarn needle, embroider pupils on Eyes.

– Using Embroidery Floss and needle, embroider mouth.
