Materials needed:
worsted weight acrylic yarn in two colours (I used navy and bright lime green)
aluminum crochet hook sizes F (3.75mm) and H (5mm)

Note: Always work dcs in front of ch4s.

To start:
With smaller hook and col A, ch4. 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join to top of beg chain.
Rnd 2: Ch3, dc in same st. 2dc in each ch around. (24)
Rnd 3: Ch3, (2dc in next st, dc in next) around. (36)
Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in next st. (2dc in one st, dc in 2 sts) around. 2dc in last st. (48)
Rnd 5: In blps this rnd only, ch1, sc around.
Rnd 6: Ch3, dc in next 3 sts. Ch4. *sk 4 sts, dc in next 4 sts, ch4. Repeat from * around, join to top of ch3, FO colA.
Rnd 7: With B, join in first unworked sc of any set of 4 from rnd 5. Working dcs in front of ch 4 of rnd 6: ch3, dc in next 3 sts. Ch4. *dc in next 4 sts of rnd 5, ch4. Repeat from * around. Join.
Rnd 8: Sl st in next 3 dcs. Sl st in next unworked dc of rnd 6. Ch3. Dc in next 3 dc. Ch4, *dc in next 4 dc of rnd 6. Ch4. Repeat from * around. FO colB.
Rnd 9-16: Join A in first unworked dc of any set of 4 from 2 rnds below. Ch3, dc in next 3. Repeat rnds 7 & 8, alternating colours every 2 rnds.
Rnd 17: Join A in first unworked dc of any set of 4 of rnd 15. Ch3, dc in next 3. *sc in 4 dcs of rnd 16, dc in unworked dcs of rnd 15.
Rnd 18: Ch3, dc around.
Rnd 19: Ch3. (Sk 1 st, hdc in next, ch1) around. Join.
Rnd 20: Ch1, sc in same st and in each ch and hdc around. FO.
Rnd 21: Join B in any st. Ch2, hdc in same st. 2hdc in next (sc in 2 sts, 2hdc in next 2) around. FO, weave in ends.

For handles: (make 2)
With larger hook and holding 1 strand of each colour together, ch 65. FO. Weave in and out of top of bag through ch 1 spaces of rnd 19. Tie ends together. Repeat for other handle, starting weaving on opposite side of bag. Weave in all ends.
