Materials:

Caron Wintuk worsted weight yarn (color A — any color for contrast; color B — fisherman)

Crochet hook size G or size needed for gauge

Gauge: first 3 rounds = about 3 1/2” Finished size: 6”

With color A and size G hook ch 4, join with a sl st to form ring

Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 15 dc in the ring; join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. (16 dc)

Round 2: Turn work. From the back, join color B with a sc in any dc, trc in the same st; (sc, trc) in each of the next 15 dc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Ch 2, turn. (32 sts)

Round 3: Skip the first sc and first trc, dc in the next sc; (yo, insert hook in same sc as the last st, pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook, skip next trc, yo and insert hook in the next sc, pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook, yo and pull through remaining 3 loops on the hook, ch 2) 14 times; yo, insert hook in same sc as the last st, pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook, skip next trc, yo and insert hook in the same sc as the beginning ch 2, pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook, yo and pull through remaining 3 loops on the hook, ch 2, join with a sl st to the first dc. Ch 1, turn. (16 clusters)

Round 4: (Sc, trc, sc, ch 1) in each ch 2 sp around, join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color B. (16 “pearls”)

Round 5: Turn work. From the front join color A with a sc in any ch 1 sp, ch 3, (sc, ch 3 in the next ch 1 sp) 15 times; join with a dc to the first sc to form the last loop. (16 ch 3 loops)

Round 6: Ch 4 to count as the first trc, work 3 trc in the same loop; work (3 dc in the next loop, 3 hdc in the next loop, 3 dc in the next loop, 7 trc in the next loop for the corner) 3 times; 3 dc in the next loop, 3 hdc in the next loop, 3 dc in the next loop, 3 trc in the same loop as the beginning trc’s, join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 4. Fasten off color A. (64 sts)

Round 7: Turn work. From the back, join color B with a sc in the center trc of any corner; *(trc in the next st, sc in the next st) 7 times, trc in the next st, (sc, trc, sc) in the next st for the corner* Repeat from * to * 2 times, (trc in the next st, sc in the next st) 7 times, trc in the next st, (sc, trc) in the same st as the first sc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color B.

Round 8: Turn work. From the front, join color A with a sc in the trc of any corner, work 2 more sc in the same st; sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in the trc of each corner; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off.
