You will need: H hook, yarn needle, and yarn in red, black, white, and yellow (I used Vanna’s Choice Scarlet, Vanna’s Choice Black, Vanna’s Choice White, and Red Heart Super Saver Bright Yellow)
Rnd 1: 10 hdc in magic ring, sl st, ch 2 [10]
Rnd 2: inc around, sl st, ch 2 [20]
Rnd 3: (hdc, inc) around, sl st, ch 2 [30]
Rnd 4: (2 hdc, inc) around, sl st, ch 2 [40]
Rnd 5: (3 hdc, inc) around, sl st, ch 2 [50]
Rnd 6: (4 hdc, inc) around, sl st, ch 2 [60]
Rnd 7: (5 hdc, inc) around, sl st, ch 2 [70]
Rnd 8-12: hdc around, sl st, ch 2 [70]
Rnd 13: hdc around [switch to red], sl st, ch 2 [70]
Rnd 14-18: hdc around, sl st, ch 2 [70]
Ear flap:
Row 1: 12 hdc, ch 2, turn
Row 2: Dec, 8 hdc, dec, ch 2, turn
Row 3: Dec, 6 hdc, dec, ch 2, turn
Row 4: dec, 4 hdc, dec, ch 2, turn
Row 5: dec, 2 hdc, dec, ch 2, turn
Row 6: dec, tie off
Find opposite side’s ear flap by laying hat flat and finding middle of other side. Attach yarn and repeat steps for ear flap.
Attach yellow yarn and sc around. Tie off. Weave in all ends.
White Buttons (make 2):
6 sc in magic ring
Tie off. Sew to hat.
Ears (make 2):
6 sc in magic ring, sl st, ch 1
Inc around, sl st, ch 1
(Sc, inc) around, sl st, ch 1
(2 sc, inc) around, sl st, ch 1
(3 sc, inc) around, sl st, ch 1
Tie off, sew to hat. Make sure to double (or even triple) check that your ears are straight before sewing down. I didn’t and I had to cut one off and start it over.
