Crochet Christmas Wish Candle

Materials Needed
Scraps of red, green and white worsted weight acrylic yarn.
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
1 empty toilet tissue roll
1 plastic shopping bag from a store
1 battery operated tealight candle with a long flame. Or a 2" long piece of chenille stem for flame.
Clear plastic packing tape.
1 silk floral christmas flower. I used a poinsettia with leaves.
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Hot glue and gun

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc="
Finished Size: 5" h x 5" diam at base, 1½" diam at top.
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Instructions
RND 1: With white, ch6, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch2. 11hdc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch2. (12 sts)

RND 2: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. 2sc in each st around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off.(24sts)

RND 3: Join green to back side of post of first sc. Ch3. Dc in each st around and in same st as joining. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 4: Ch5. Sk 2 sts. *Dc in next st. Ch2. Sk 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch5. Fasten off.

RND 5: Join red in same st as slst. Ch1. (Dc in each of the next 2 skipped sts behind ch2 sp.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 6: Rep RND 4.

RND 7: Join white in same st as slst. Ch1. (Dc in each of the next 2 skipped sts behind ch2 sp.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 8 & 9: Ch3. Dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 10: Rep RND 4.

RND 11: Join red in same st as slst. Ch1. (Dc in each of the next 2 skipped sts behind ch2 sp.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 12: Rep RND 4.

RND 13: Join green in same st as slst. Ch1. (Dc in each of the next 2 skipped sts behind ch2 sp.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 14: Ch3. 2dc in same st as slst. 3dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work.

Assembly

Step 1: Stuff empty tissue roll with plastic shopping bag & cover one end with packing tape to keep the bag in place. Leave enough space at the other end so the battery operated tealight will fit. No need to secure the tealight in since you need to be able to turn it on and off.

Step 2: Place tealight in top of tissue roll. Place crocheted candle over tissue roll so the flame sticks through the hole in RND 1. You can use an orange chenille stem in place of the tealight candle if you do not have a tealight candle.

Step 3: Hot glue the Christmas floral decoration to the bottom of the candle on rnd 14.
