Materials:

2.5 oz white worsted wt cotton yarn

Small amounts of green and red

Size «G» Hook

1" cabone ring

Note: Do not join rounds but mark the beginning of each.

Starting at toe:

Rnd 1: Ch 2 and 8 sc in first sc.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc (16)

Rnd 3: (2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc) around (24 sc)

Rnd 4: (2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sc) around (32 sc)

Rnd 5: (2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc) around (40 sc)

Rnds 6 through 18: Sc in each sc (40 sc)

Turning the heel. Now you will be working in rows

Row 1: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 12 sc, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)

Row 2: Sc in 12 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row. (14 sc)

Row 3: Sc in 14 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row (16 sc)

Row 4: Sc in 16 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row (18 sc)

Row 5: Sc in 18 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row (20 sc)

Row 6: Sc in 20 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row (22 sc)

Row 7: Sc in 22 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row (24 sc)

Row 8: Sc in 24 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row (26 sc)

Row 9: Sc in 26 sc, sc in next 2 sc of previous row (28 sc)

Now go back to working in rounds.

Rnd 1: Sc in each sc around including the unworked sc of previous row. Do not join but mark beg of each round. (40 sc)

Rnds 2 through 10: Sc in each sc around. Sl st in next sc. Finish off. (40 sc)

Rnd 11: Holding the piece flat, attach yarn at right had side through two layers; ch 1, sc in same place and each sc across. (20 sc) Ch 4, Turn

Rnd 12: 1 dc in back loop of next sc, ch 1 *(1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in next sc. Repeat from * around working in free loops of other side of rnd 11. Finish off.

Attach 1" cabone to back.

Holly and Berries

Holly

With green, Ch 4, join to form a ring.

First leave: Ch 6, sl st in first sc, 1 sc, in next sc, hdc in next sc,. dc in next 2 dc, sl st in ring.

Second leave: Repeat for first leave.

Third leave: Repeat for first leave. Finish off.

Berries (make 3)

With red, ch 2 and 6 sc in first ch. Finish off leaving a tail to gather. Gather yarn through the six sc and pull tightly to form berry. Attach to leaves.

Attach holly and berries to potholder.
