Supplies

  • Crochet hook G/4.00 mm
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Yarn needle (I use Clover Chibi Bent Tip Needle Set)
  • Stitch marker, optional (I use Clover Locking Stitch Markers)
  • Worsted weight yarn, I used the following yarn:
    • Vanna’s Choice, Chocolate (color A)
    • Red Heart with Love, Off White (color B)

Notes

  • Please read through the entire pattern before you start.
  • Gauge: Not essential as long as you keep your tension consistent. (Try not to crochet too loosely to avoid stuffing being shown through your stitches.)

Abbreviations

ch = chain
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitch(es)
rep = repeat
* – * = repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

Pattern Instructions

Cookie(make 2)

With color A/brown, ch 21.

Row 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (20)

Rows 2-10: Work 1 sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (20)

Row 11: Work sc around the whole cookie. Specifically, I worked 1 sc in next 20 sts, then continue around the side of the cookie, work 9 sc across as evenly as possible (about 1 sc per row). Repeat. Finally, sl st to first sc to join. (58)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Block cookie if necessary. I sprayed water all over mine and just let it dry overnight (the lazy way!).

Ice Cream

Join color B/white in the back bump (see thumbnail 1 below) of the first stitch of the cookie (wrong side facing you).

Row 1: Work 1 sc in same st as join and in each of the next 19 sts. Continue working sc around the short side (9 sts), long side (20 sts) and short side again (9 sts) of the cookie. Sl st to first sc to join. (58)

Row 2: Ch 1. Work 1 sc in same st as join and in each remaining st around. Sl st to first sc to join. (58)

Rows 3-5: Repeat row 2.

Fasten off, leaving a tail long enough for sewing ice cream to the cookie.

Assembly

Now, we will join the other cookie to the ice cream. Line up the sts on the cookie with the ice cream. With long tail from ice cream, join cookie by going through the back bump of the last row of the cookie and the back loops of the ice cream, all the way around. Remember to stuff with fiberfill before closing the ice cream sandwich!
