Pumpkin (make 2):
Start with orange yarn and a CH of 9 working first stitch in 2nd CH from hook
- Row 1: SC in each CH + CH1 turn (8)
- Rows 2-8: BLO SC in each stitch + CH1 + Turn (8 each row)
-After 8th row CH1 but don't turn. You will now be working around the rectangle you just made.
- Starting in same stitch as last SC
- SC+HDC in first stitch, DC+HDC in next, SC in next, SS, SS, SC, HDC+DC, HDC+SC
- Working along side (this should be the opposite side of foundation CH
- SC in first CH + 6HDC(1 in each CH) + SC in last CH
- Along bottom of pumpkin
- SC+HDC in first space, HDC+SC in next, SS+HDC in next, 2DC in each of the next 2 spaces, HDC+SS in next, SC+HDC, HDC+SC
- Along last side
- 1SC + 6HDC + 1SC
- SS into first SC of round
- Fasten off first panel
- Don't fasten off after second panel, you will now join the 2 panels together.
Joining:
- With wrong sides together and last panel made facing you, work 1SC around both panels at the same time making sure to place 1SC into every stitch and 1SS into each SS made (there are only 4 SS two on the top of the pumpkin and two on the bottom.)
Before joining last side of pumpkin....
- If adding Safety Eyes make sure to attach them to pumpkin before joining last side. I attached them between rows 2-3 and 6-7 about 4 stitches down from top of pumpkin (adjust yours any way you'd like)
- Stuff pumpkin with polyfill
- Finish joining last side with 1SC into each stitch
- SS to first SC made and fasten off
Adding The Face:
Mouth:
- Zig Zag Mouth
- Stitched Mouth
-Use Black yarn and tapestry needle to embroider the mouth you'd like. The picture should give you an idea as to where to place the mouth.
Eyes/Nose:
- Safety Eyes
- Triangle Eyes
-If adding safety eyes, remember to attach them before closing pumpkin. Attach them between rows 2/3 and 6/7 about 3-4 stitches down from the top of the pumpkin.
-If embroidering the eyes make two larger triangles for the eyes and one slightly smaller triangle for the nose.
-If embroidering the nose/eyebrows with the safety eyes use picture as a guide
Stem:
-Attach brown yarn to first SC just right of the 2 SS's on the middle top of pumpkin + SC in same stitch,
- Work 2 long Single Crochets in next 2 SS's (Just work a SC in the stitch below the SS's, this is the same space that you worked the SS's from the joining round.) + 1SC in next SC (4)
- CH1 + turn + 1SC in each stitch (4)
- CH1 + turn + DEC SC in first 2 stitches and last 2 stitches
- CH1 + Fasten Off
Keychain:
-Place O ring anywhere in the middle of the stem, add swivel clasp if you'd like.
Congratulations!
