Supplies:

  • 4mm Crochet Hook
  • 4 medium Acrylic Worsted Weight Yarn (white)
  • 9mm Safety Eyes (qty 2)
  • 11mm Safety Eye (qty 1) (optional for mouth)
  • Black Embroidery Thread (optional for smile)
  • Polyfill
  • Keychain
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle

Stitch Key (US Terms)

  • CH — Chain
  • SS — Slip Stitch
  • SC — Single Crochet
  • DEC — Single Crochet Decrease
  • DC Double Crochet

Notes:

— CH1 & turn at the beginning of each row.

— Crochet 2 panels of the body, fasten off on the first panel and keep yarn attached on the 2nd panel.

Body:

Begin with CH8 and start in 2nd CH from hook

  1. SS + *CH2 + DC in next stitch + CH2 + SS in next stitch*
    1. Repeat from * — ** to end of CH
  2. CH1 + rotate clockwise work on opposite side of foundation CH, work 1SC in each CH (7)
  3. 1SC each stitch (7)
  4. 1SC each stitch (7)
  5. 1SC each stitch (7)
  6. 1SC each stitch + CH3
  7. 1SC in each stitch starting in 2nd CH from hook + CH3 (9)
  8. 1SC in each stitch starting in 2nd CH from hook (11)
  9. 1SC in each stitch (11)
  10. 1SC in first 9 stitches (9)
  11. 1SC in first 7 stitches (7)
  12. 1SC each stitch (7)
  13. DEC + 3SC + DEC (5)
  14. DEC + 1SC + DEC (3) + fasten off

Joining:

Line up both body pieces making sure arms line up and work 1SC into both pieces at the same time. Make sure to add safety eyes and polypill to inside of ghost before joining both pieces completely.

Mouth:

If you want to add the smiling mouth simply embroider a V starting just under the eyes.
