Crochet Chunky Bobble Bows

Chunky Crochet Bobble Bow – Pattern
This pattern is written in UK terms. Turning chains do not count as stitches. I’ve added a few photos below to show what the bow should look like as it’s made up. This pattern is really simple but just make sure you count your stitches at the end of each row, as it’s easy to miss them when you’re working bobbles.
Yarn: Super Bulky/Chunky (for alternatives read text above)
Hook: 7mm
Tapestry Needle
Stitches:
Chain = Ch
Double Crochet = Dc (US sc)
Bobble Stitch = Bobble // I’m using a bobble made up by crocheting 4 trebles together in the same stitch (tr4tog or US dc4tog) (Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop [3 loops on hook] yarn over, pull through 2 loops [2 loops on hook], *Yarn over insert hook into same stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull though 2 loops* repeat from * to * x 3 until you have 5 stitches on hook, yarn over and pull through all 5 remaining loops.)
Pattern:
Foundation: Ch 16 + 1 for turning
Row 1: 1 Dc in each stitch across, ch 1 to turn (16)
Row 2: Dc in 1st stitch, bobble in next, dc, bobble, dc, bobble, 4 dc, bobble, dc, bobble, dc, bobble, dc, ch 1 to turn (16) – the bobbles will appear on the other side of your work.
Row 3: Repeat row 1
Row 4: Repeat row 2
Row 5: Repeat row 1
Row 6: Repeat row 2
Row 7: Repeat row 1,
Row 8: Repeat row 2,
Row 9: Repeat row 1, fasten off and sew in ends.
You should now have a flat rectangular piece of crochet (see photo 4)
Using the same yarn (or a different colour if you choose) wrap the yarn several times over the centre of the piece to create your bow. Don’t wrap it tight as it will just make the sides of the bow curl too much. Once you’re happy, knot and hide ends. Sew on brooch attachment or sew directly onto your item – Yippee!
