So, gather your supplies, follow a fun pattern, and let your imagination swim freely as you craft your own underwater adventure!

Materials
To make a shake/whale/dolphin you will need:
– A Crochet hook, 2.5mm
– A yarn in your choice of color (main color) and white yarn
– A tapestry needle and scissors
– Stuffing
– Safety eyes (I used 9mm)
– A stitch marker to help you keep track of the start of the round
Please note that you can make them using any size crochet hook and yarn weight for a smaller or bigger result. I like using DK as it’s most commonly available. If you make amigurumi, it is usually recommended to go down a bit from the recommended hook size for the yarn to allow for a no-hole look (we don’t want to see the stuffing show through in between stitches)! Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm crochet hook, they should be about 5-7cm tall.

Stitches & Abbreviations
The pattern is written using US crochet terms in continuous spirals. You will need to know the following kinds of stitches to make him:
– Magic Ring (MR)
– Single crochet (sc)
– Decrease (dec); preferably using the invisible decrease method
– Increase (inc)
And now, let’s get started!

Body
Round 1: Starting in your main color, in a MR, sc 6
Round 2: Inc around (12)
Round 3: (Sc, inc) around (18)
Round 4: (Sc 2, inc) around (24)
Round 5: Sc 2, (inc, sc) x3, sc 6, (inc, sc) x3, sc 4 (30)
Round 6: Sc 3, (inc, sc 2) x3, sc 6, (inc, sc 2) x3, sc 3 (36) (this will help make it more oval and less round)
Round 7-13 (7 rounds): Sc around (36), change to white
Round 14: Sc around (36)
Round 15: Sc 7, (dec, sc 2) x3, sc 6, (dec, sc 2) x2, dec, sc (30)
Round 16: Sc 7, (dec, sc) x3, sc 6, (dec, sc) x2, dec (24), place eyes between rounds 10 and 11, approx… 9 stitches apart (make sure you place them on the smaller side of the face) and start stuffing
Round 17: (Sc 2, dec) around (18)
Round 18: (Sc, dec) around (12), finish stuffing
Round 19: Dec around (6), fasten off and sew closed

Side fins (in main color; make 2)
Round 1: In a MR, sc 6
Round 2: (Sc, inc) around (9)
Round 3-4: Sc around (9)
Round 5: (Sc 2, inc) around (12)
Round 6: Sc around (12), fasten off

Tail fin (in main color)
Round 1: In a MR, sc 6
Round 2: (Sc, inc) around (9)
Round 3-5 (3 rounds): Sc around (9)
Round 6: (Sc, dec) around (6), fasten off
Now, make a second, but do not fasten it off! We will now join these two pieces together.
Round 7: Sc 3, then sc 6 on the first piece you made, then sc 3 on the second piece (12)
Round 8: (Sc 2, dec) around (9), fasten off

Back fin (for shark and dolphin; in main color)
Round 1: In a MR, sc 6
Round 2: Sc around (6)
Round 3: (Sc, inc) around (9)
Round 4: Sc around (9), fasten off

Assembly
Assembly is quick and easy! First, take the side fins and sew them onto the sides, preferably so that you hide the color change. Make sure they’re symmetrical on both sides. Next, take the tail fin and sew it on – for the dolphin and the whale, sew it on horizontally, and for the shark vertically. Lastly, if you’re making a shark or a dolphin, sew on the back fin, making sure it’s centered.
