  • Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and across. Turn. (9 sc)
  • Row 2: Ch 1, sc in back loops only (BLO) across. Turn. (9 sc)

Leg:

  • Round 3: Ch 1, (tr in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next st), repeat from around. Sl st to join.
  • Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until the leg reaches the desired length (typically 6-8 inches).

Heel:

  • Work the heel flap in rows over half the stitches.
  • Row 1: Ch 1, sc across half of the stitches. Turn.
  • Row 2: Ch 1, sc across. Turn.

  • For the heel turn: Row 1: Sc across until the center, sc2tog, sc to end. Turn.
  • Row 2: Sc to the center, sc2tog, sc to end. Turn.
  • Repeat until about one-third of the original stitches remain.

Gusset and Foot:

  • Pick up and sc along the sides of the heel flap.
  • Resume working in rounds, maintaining the spiral pattern from the leg.
  • Decrease on both sides every other round by sc2tog until original stitch count is reached.
  • Continue until the sock measures about 2 inches shorter than the foot length.

  • Round 2: Sc in next 5 sts, sc2tog, repeat around.
  • Continue decreasing every round until 8-10 stitches remain.
